I went to the hospital and they told me I couldnt breast feed, and when I go back, they tell me that I can because I dont have to take my medication until I want too, so Im a little upset that throughout my whole pregnancy they told me I couldnt, and 11 days after giving birth to my daughter they tell me I can, and now she wont even take to my breast, I had a cheap evenflo breast pump that was good for 5 min and took me 30 min just to get 2oz, but I heard good things about Medela, but they are so costly, and I heard alot of good things about Ameda also, so I was wondering has anyone used the Ameda? and is it worth the buy because I'm in the military and I only get 6 weeks of maternity leave, and then I go back to work, and they only give me such amount of time to pump, so I want something that will work well for that hour or so I get....

Any Suggestions?

My 5 month old daughter wakes up for a feeding every 2 -3 hours. She was exclusively breast fed until about 3 weeks ago when we started giving her rice cereal with her last feeding. She has been on a routine of going to bed around 7pm since she was a few weeks old and she usually wakes up on her own around 7am. However, like I mentioned, she only sleeps for 2-3 hour stretches at night (sometimes she wakes up every hour or so). Once we feed her, we change her and put her right back to bed and she usually goes to sleep quickly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have an interview today with a family with a 4 month old. They want someone to watch and take care of the infant 40 to 45 hours a week. In the summer, they have a 6 year old (from another marriage). What weekly salary should I ask for? They want someone to do light housekeeping as well as taking care of the infant and the 6 year old (in the summer only).

My husband (who recently received EMT certification) thinks my friend's 12 month old looks jaundice. We don't want to scare my friend by mentioning this to her, but feel like we probably should for the sake of the child. Any suggestions on how this hould be handled or what could cause this? Child is otherwise healthy, to our knowledge anyway.

Can you use different nipples on these bottles, as my son doesn't like them. I have bought the Dr. Brown's nipples as he uses those bottles also, but I wondered if anybody has or does use different nipples with these bottles.

I saw a lady with her daughter who was a couple of weeks older than my daughter who is 7 months. Her daughter had her fingernails and toenails painted. Cute yes but I'm more worried about the daughter putting her fingers in her mouth and swallowing the paint chips! If shes anything like my daughter, her fingers are always in her mouth. And wouldn't that be harmful to swallow even if it is dried? Most of the polish on the little girl was chipped off and she said it was regular polish, not the cheap play kind for little girls I've seen before.

I have recently started using cloth dipes on my 8 week old. I have been using bumGenius, Mommy's Touch, and Mother Eve brand...all pockets. I have been thinking about maybe buying a couple different types also; and was just wondering if anyone had a certain dipe that they swear by.

At what age should you take your toddler to his/her first dental checkup? I always thought around 4 or 5. But with all these tooth decay I've been hearing about I'm not too sure. How old was your kid?
Thank You

I plan to breast feed our baby, but my boyfriend states that if I do there will be no way he can asist in feeding the baby. Is there a way to involve him eventhough I want to breast feed.

My son has recently decided that he does not like to eat in the morning and into the afternoon. He is breastfed and will only snack until about 230 in the afternoon. He is still gaining weight and wetting enough diapers but he is now making up the calories throughout the night where he used to sleep 9 hours straight through. This is totally foreign to me and I don't know how to get him to consume more during the day again. We have not started using rice cereal yet just because I was just going to wait and put him on solids in another month. Do you think rice cereal would help and how would I implement it, when, and how much?? Thank you so much. I am just a little baffled. Oh, he's teething too!

I heard that sometimes parents will put a couple of drops of alcohol in their babies bottles so that the baby will sleep throughout the entire night. Is that true? do parents actually do that? and is it safe for the baby? I asked my mother and she was disgusted, she couldn't believe that people do that. and yet I still wonder....

my friend suggested it,. I am taking domeradome, but since the baby had difficulty latching for the first couple of weeks my supply is a little low. Has anyone tried fenugreak?? how well did it work for you? Ive also had a breast reduction as well so i may need to take something to help with the supply for the entire time i am nursing.

thanks

I am interested in hearing the stories of anyone in ONTARIO CANADA who has used a midwife. I am 4 months pregnant, and having trouble finding an OB GYN, so I am looking into midwifery.
IF you can let me know how your midwife experience went, and how you and your family felt about it, please let me know!!

He actually seems to be sleeping worse now what I give it to him at bedtime. I'm wondering if I should give it to him earlier and maybe just a bottle at bedtime.
