I just started giving my baby solid food at 3 1/2 months (at the pediatrician's suggestion). Can I give her all-natural applesauce from a jar (ingredients are organic apples and water)? Should I run it through a blender first? How long does it keep in the fridge or should I freeze it (I've been told ice cube trays are great)?

My little girl is almost a month old. She gets formula and breast milk, and for the last few days shes been throwing up after I feed her (when I burp her she spews), mostly at night. She has done it with formula and breast milk so I know its not a formula problem. Anyone have any idea why she is doing this and what may help?

I had a baby shower, and sent everyone thank you cards, then my mother in law had a "tea party" for my daughter when she was a month old to introduce her to the family. Most people brought gifts, and I of course thanked them, but I never sent thank you cards as I was just so busy with baby. Was my verbal thank you enough, or should I have sent each a card?

My baby is 4 1/2 months old and has been a big baby since birth.. he was 9 lbs. 6 oz. and 21 in. when he was born... So I am used to people commenting on how big he is.. He is now being only formula fed... he weighs 21 lbs. and is 28 in. long.. my mother in law keeps saying that we should try giving him more water so he will intake less formula.. but he really doesn’t eat too much.. according to a chart in webmd he should be eating 4 to 5 - 6 oz. bottles in 24 hours.. he eats about 5 or 6 - 5 oz. bottles.. and according to his pediatrician at his length his weight is healthy and he is doing fine.. so my mother in laws comments make me feel like I'm overfeeding my baby and I am going to make him obese.. I don’t know but it makes me feel like she's implying im a bad mother.. what do you think?

We've never been on a cruise, but were thinking about taking a Carnival cruise in March to the Carribbean. Our daughter will be 9 months old. Will they charge anything for her? Do infants handle cruises well? We can bring her pack 'n play for her to sleep in, but I heard ship's rooms are very small. Will there be room in standard cabin for her? She's generally outgoing and content, so we think she should be OK, but we'd like to hear others' first-hand experiences.

Hi, my baby is 10 months and crawling/standing in cot at night. I've had someone suggest that I buy a baby Grobag (sleeping bag without arms). Does anyone have any suggestions on the pro's and con's of these. He falls asleep out of his blankets and I think the idea of the warmth moving around with him is an alright idea.

Im still shocked/amazed at that you tube video of a 10 month old floating in the water.

I actually found it interesting...maybe a bit extreme, but something i'd like to try at some point, maybe not so agresively but yes.
When do you think is the earliest babies can do that?

She has always slept through the night unless not feeling well or cutting teeth. Now here in the past month she has started waking up usually between 1 and 3. We have tried several diffent things from when she eats, naps, and wakes up, but we have yet to solve this problem with her waking up. Any suggestions?

I am married and plan on having children in the future. I have heard that breastfeeding is the best thing you can do for your child. My mother actually breast feed me for a 1 year and a 1/2. But my question is, if breast feeding is so good for you why doesn't everyone do it? Why are there so many women who choose the bottle? Is breast feeding hard or painful to do? I also know that a lot of mothers that do breast feed stigmatize mothers that don't. I want to hear from the mothers that use formula, tell me why you chose to use formula? And why you think this was or wasn't the best decision for you and your baby?

Any suggestions for a website(s) that sell nursing bras? However- they need to have extended sizes (ie- DDD and larger) and I want some that are more 'modern' or sexy-- i'm not looking for just the plain old white nursing bras... I need to order some =) thanks.

Suggestions I DON'T want:
baskets full of products--this is a common gift
gift certificate for cleaning service--she already uses a cleaning service
gift certificate for night out--this is a common gift
gift certificate for babysitting--this is a common gift, and she has several family members nearby that are clamoring to babysit
Diaper cakes or wreaths--I think they're overdone, and it's becoming a common gift
Gift certificate to portrait studio--her dad is a photographer
Gift certificate to a spa--she doesn't enjoy things like that

I want to do something for her that's VERY unique, preferably even homemade.

Relevant info:
She is having a girl, but isn't announcing the name until the baby is born. She is 28, her husband is 29, and this is their first baby, and also the first grandchild on both sides. He is a pilot and she's an air traffic controller, but it's hard to find gift ideas that correlate with that that are not obviously for boys.

I work at a daycare care with a 19 year old girl with a 3 week old baby. During her pregnacy she lied to everyone in her life about being pregnant, including her family, our boss. She was completely unprepared, she had nothing for the baby and had not seen a doctor at all. Now, even though she lied about her pregnancy, everyone has bought her everything for the baby...and they our now keeping the baby (starting at one week) for her at least two nights a week. At three weeks old the baby is in daycare, and the mom is back at work. She has continualy discussed how the baby "has her fits and I just let her cry" I'm worried that shes not going to her the baby. I think her plan was to pretend she didn't have a baby and get rid of her. She went into labor at work and begged to go home, claiming she was just sick. Other than her attempting to stroll the baby a mile to the store in the winter at just a few days old I have nothing to call neglect on. I'm scared for the baby what do I do?

Do you have a preference for a particular bp? Did you have a bad experience with one? Do you know of someone who has had success or failure with a particular breast pump?

Have you heard of anyone using "Lactioncare.com" to purchase a reduced price bp?

I just found out that my insurance plan does NOT cover bp's, so I will have to purchase one with my own money, and I don't want to waste any money!!! Any ideas?

Thanks for your suggestions and opinions in advance. And, if you have already answered one of my BP questions, then disregard this one :-)

Medela (advanced vs. orginial), Ameda, Playtex Embrace, Isis (sp?), etc.

My 9 week old is breastfeeding but it is still not as comfortable as I think it should be. I occasionally get a clear blister on my nipple but then it goes away after a few days (from friction or too much suction?) Breastfeeding isn't too bad during the day but by evening it gets more painful. I was wondering how to tell if tongue tied is affecting breastfeeding/latch. I asked his Ped this morning at his visit if he is tongue tied and he said its too early to tell for sure. My son is gaining weight well (25th to 40th% now) but I was just looking for any tips to make breastfeeding more comfortable. I know I can see a lactation consultant- I am a OB RN and work with them- and I know about tongue clipping. I was just looking for something I could use right now if anyone has experienced this.
