Do you have a preference for a particular bp? Did you have a bad experience with one? Do you know of someone who has had success or failure with a particular breast pump?

Have you heard of anyone using "Lactioncare.com" to purchase a reduced price bp?

I just found out that my insurance plan does NOT cover bp's, so I will have to purchase one with my own money, and I don't want to waste any money!!! Any ideas?

Thanks for your suggestions and opinions in advance. And, if you have already answered one of my BP questions, then disregard this one :-)

Medela (advanced vs. orginial), Ameda, Playtex Embrace, Isis (sp?), etc.

I plan to use the pump for at least a year for our first baby. Of course, the pump would be used to any of our other children as well. I want to make a well-informed decision :-) Thank you!

I used the Medela pump (original) and I was able to rent it through the hospital that I had my baby at. The monthly payments weren't bad at all considering how much money I was saving by breastfeeding.

*IF* you are only having one child or only pumping for a short period it may be more cost effective to rent one. The following prices are in Canadian, 'k?

To rent:
$5/week
$50 for the double breast kit (you rent the motor not the parts that touch the milk)

So for one year, the maximum most women pump for: $310 total

To own (a good one):
$400-$500

+pumps should be serviced every 6 months after the first year, so you should consider that when deciding to rent or buy. Also if you don't like the rental pump you can exchange it, though you would need to buy a new kit. Though there is nothing wrong with reusing the kit they reuse them in the NICU, afterall if you couldn't sterilize them they would kill the baby. So if you can buy a used kit it may be worth it.

carry directly to it. A 300 and sixty 5 days and a nil.5 is quite no longer that long. you ought to prefer it lower back. to boot, i'd think of it may be particularly stressful to sell a breast pump by way of sanitary matters. whether you have a variety the place somebody ought to reserve new sparkling attachments, the assumption of utilising somebody else's pump is somewhat a turn off.

I haven't tried any of the ones you mentioned above, but I did use the Whisper Wear. It was wonderful for me. However, I recommended it to a friend that found she couldn't use it at all. I am not sure why. This breat pump is worn inside the bra so you don't have to take your clothes off. It was great for going back to work.

FYI - you can rent these, and that can be cheaper depending on how long you want to use it.

I have a Medela Pump-in-Style. I wasn't successful with bf'ing, but I loved the pump. I will definitely use it again.
