We've never been on a cruise, but were thinking about taking a Carnival cruise in March to the Carribbean. Our daughter will be 9 months old. Will they charge anything for her? Do infants handle cruises well? We can bring her pack 'n play for her to sleep in, but I heard ship's rooms are very small. Will there be room in standard cabin for her? She's generally outgoing and content, so we think she should be OK, but we'd like to hear others' first-hand experiences.

It would never even occur to me to leave my baby with a sitter for that long. I'm breastfeeding; but even if I weren't, I couldn't handle being apart from her for that long. I agree that she won't remember the cruise, and the vacation isn't for her - but she is MY baby, and she stays with me wherever I go.

We went on a cruise a few months ago, but it was a Disney Cruise. We took our 4 children, including our infant, and had a really fabulous time! I am not sure about Carnival's charging for your baby. As far as room size, we had a category 4 room on the ship and it was really big. We have been on other ships and Disney definitely had the largest rooms we've ever seen. Sorry I can't be of more help, but if you have not actually booked your cruise yet, I would suggest at least looking at Disneycruise.com
We really could not say anything negative about the entire trip, it was that good!

Don't you just love Yahoo Answers sometimes..I can't believe the way some people answer these questions.. THere are some stupid people out there...

Anyway...I have cruised for a long time now. But never with a child of my own. I know that when they are older I believe 2 years old they have a wonderful kids program for them. I know NCL does because that is the only cruise line I sail. They have there own pool, play area and everything you can image just for kids. My niece and nephew NEVER wanted to be w/ there parents because they loved the kids program. It just shows how much fun they have. I think you guys should go and have a blast. It will be a lot of fun for everyone EVEN your 9 month old!! :) :) :) If you can afford to get a bigger room then I would try and do that but if not an inside room should be big enough for everything...I mean don't get me wrong it will be very tight but how long are you really in your room for. NOT long!! :) I think book the cruise and have a blast.

I have a 5 month old and we are going to start cruising again when he is older...So everyone can enjoy the cruise!!! But it is never too early...I would go now but can't afford it!! :)

Good Luck

I would check with the cruise, I am not sure about Carnival, but I know some cruises do not allow children under 1. Also, you may want to get motion sickness medication from your doctor. The problem with the cruise isn't really space, it is general needs, if your baby gets sick at sea there may not be adequate medical support.

i do not think it is a good idea to bring your baby on the cruise because for one thing the baby is not going to enjoy it at all, the only thing the baby enjoys is spending time with you and they will not even care about the cruise, and the cruise should be for your enjoyment anyways, you deserve a vacation to enjoy for yourself and do what you want when you want, so i would arrange a sitter for your child, but have fun anyways!
