I have recently started using cloth dipes on my 8 week old. I have been using bumGenius, Mommy's Touch, and Mother Eve brand...all pockets. I have been thinking about maybe buying a couple different types also; and was just wondering if anyone had a certain dipe that they swear by.

I sew my own pocket diapers using fleece and PUL, but I've heard that Fuzzi Bunz are pretty good ones.

And actually, cloth diapered babies have MUCH LESS diaper rash than disposable diapered babies. The cloth doesn't retain heat like the plastic ones and the cloth breathes (unlike the sposies) so they get air circulation against their skin
I think disposable diapers are so gross. They get squishy when they pee, and they smell horrible. I did daycare for a disposable diapered kid, and I actually asked the mom if I could use cloth on him because I couldn't stand the smell. She of coarse said yes because it saved her tons of money.

Oh, and I have heard awesome things about the BumGenious dipes =)

Argh, the nerve of anti-cloth diaper pushers to post here!

I LOVE my KiwiPie dipes. I purchase most of them online, sometimes new and sometimes gently used. I also have a few tie-dyed Sammy's as well.....so cute! I often will avoid a cover just to show-off the cute dipes underneath!
Opinons on cloth diapers will vary from one Mamma to the next.
Some have velcro, others snaps and some have nothing but whichever clips you choose to buy for them. I use different diapers during the day then I do at night b/c some just absorb better. I also add extra inserts at night.....although you won't have to worry about this too much until your babe fills a diaper more :)

Check out MotheringDotCommune Forums. Thay have a GREAT sub-forum that is ALL about cloth diapering. You can chat with other Mammas and get referrals for great brands/types as well as buy and sell through the Trading Post.

I love the bumGenius I have never had a leak with them even at night I don't have to double up on the insert. I don't know about too many different brands I just stared Cding about 1 1/2 mth ago.You can get good info on babycenter they have a diapering board and if you look on their May 2006 board there is a "cloth cuties" weekly thread. There are a ton of us on that thread and I am sure more experanced CD moms can tell you what they think are good newborn dipes. You might want to check out the "wiggle-worm" website. she makes super cute dipes there is a lot of colors and patterns to choose from and a lot of moms on the may board love them.

i take advantage of wallet and prefolds with covers. wallet professionals: elementary and accessible, wick away moisture from infant's epidermis, gorgeous, no pins or snappis, have a tendency to be slightly more beneficial trim so infant looks a lot less like a pear, look really elementary to get stains out of. Cons: expensive at the same time as construct up stash. Prefolds professionals: low-cost, a touch a lot less complicated to launder than wallet, many diverse folds to apply Cons: some covers leak. (Thirsties are very solid besides the undeniable fact that!) maximum folds require pins or snappis. carry stains more beneficial than wallet, moisture is held hostile to infant's epidermis. As you are able to discover, i'm keen on pocket diapers, yet I nonetheless LOVE prefolds with Thirsty covers. IMO, you fairly can not bypass incorrect with cloth in case you purchase on line and do not use gerber prefolds and plastic pants.

Sweetcheeks works the best!! Also they last long and are super durable! ALSO: that other poster was wrong, it's babies who use disposables that get diaper rash more often than cloth...stupid people.

Cloth diapers are nice yes but disposable are more practical and you don't have to wash them. Also babies are prone to getting more diaper rashes from the cloth diapers than they are of the disposable. They have ones now that are more softer and made of fabric that help your babies bottom breathe better. Good luck to you though. Wish I could be more help.

And I'm not anti cloth, thats just my opinion. Sorry if I offend, not my intention.
