Newborn & Baby - January 2007

Our 4 month old daughter will eventually go down for a nap (after walking her for 15-20 mins and/or nursing her right before)- but she only sleeps for like 40 mins and wakes up grumpy. She just can't seem to fall back asleep to complete her 1 1/2 hr. naps and is fussy and tired most of the day. She also will not go longer than 2-3 hour stretches at night... we've tried putting her in her crib while she's drowsy so she knows where she is, but she just wakes back up and seems wide awake or really pissed off to the point where she will not go back to sleep. Any suggestions?!! We've been giving her rice cereal before bed- that doesn't seem to help. We believe it's more than just hunger (if it's hunger at all). Thanks!

My daughter just turned seven months and at she has only gained one and a half pounds since her four month check up. SHe is breast fed and started solids and infant cereal in the morning and before bed since she was four months, but what is an averange 7 months old feeding schedule like? We have been practicing with a sippy cup already and she can hold her spoon and bring it to her mouth, but how many jars of what should she have each day? I am just going by her appetite now, I am not force feeding her or anything, I am just wondering if she has a lower appetitie than the average baby and if that would explain her slow weight gain these past few months, she is only 14 pounds and our pediatrician said it was fine, that it was in the 20% and as long as she isn't losing, that she is fine. Just curious!

I asked this question earlier about whether or not my daughter is really ready for whole milk. She is ten months old. She weighs 23 lbs and has two teeth as well as she is a professional crawler and will probably be walking soon as she attempts to stand by herself frequently and pulls herself up on everything.

She usually eats rice cereal for breakfast, two jars of baby food for lunch (meat and fruit) and also the same for dinner. Overall she drinks about 25 ounces of fluids. However, my problem is that for the last four weeks she will not drink her formula. She may have an ounce or two but she always ends up throwing her bottle down if formula is in it. (She still prefers drinking juice or water from her bottle but if formula is in it, she turns her face as if she doesn't like it.) My point in saying all of this is that I think she is telling me that she no longer wants formula and she does eat a lot of solids. If anyone else has had this problem please give me some expert advice.

Our baby girl is only 4 and half months old. We only breastfeed her, sometimes only water as addition. Now, she is not interesting in eating. i.e. She sucks for a few seconds then just wants to suck her fingers.

Why is that? Will it harm her growing? and how we should do?

many thanks

I was just wondering what the chances are of cutting the skin, and does it bleed, and does the baby feel a lot of pain? Now and then when I give my 1 1/2 month old a bath, it scares the crap out of me because I generally clip his nails after bathing him. For a long time I put it off until he accidentally scratched his nose, but I get so nervous! What are your experiences?

I asked about girl names not long ago, and got such a great response that I actually did choose a name to use. I would like a boy soon later on, and i would like his name to start with j. Mind you I am not lazy, I have looked at sites, but i had seen a yahoo question on names, and there were a few names that you would find given not shown in these sites, as they use common names. but i would like to thank people for helping me out with the girl name

I already let him taste/suck on it, since he fussed for it. I was eating one while he was on my lap. I felt bad that he wanted it so badly so I let him suck on it. Now I'm worried. Will the citrus hurt him? When I was pregnant I ate them like crazy.

for my two month old. she really likes cat food (I know that's weird) but I'm currently using fancy feast but the budget is tight and I'm thinking of going to that Wal Mart brand of special kitty.I don't want her to be stupid like Rosie O Donnell but she kinda eats alot and it's getting quite expensive.

My daughter is so stuck on her "Ba-Ba's" (Bottles) that she gets four 8oz's a day, so that's 32oz's of milk a day. I know too much milk can cause anemic problems and consipation so am I giving too much? What are some ways that helped other mother's ween their babies off the bottle? I would like to get her down to 3 bottles in a month then down to 2 bottles in approxiamately 3 months then by her 2nd birthday she'll be down to 1. Is this possible? Is the mid-day bottle the best to start with from weening her off of it? Thanks for the help.
