Why do lots of people call diapers nappies. It really annoys me. The first time I saw a question on here about a nappy rash I actually had to read some of the other answers to figure out what a nappy rash was. I have a son who is 11-months old and we call diapers diapers cause thats what they are called. Where in the world did calling them nappies come from?

I really prefer not to get him cloth as he is getting big. I need something that an eight month old can enjoy and yet not be something that he will stop using after a month.

Usually you can tell when the baby has the hicups. Even my husband can feel him twich. I started noticing this about 29 wks. I think it's so cute to have a life inside you experiencing all the movements. I just wondered, if the baby can now open his eyes, suck his thumbs, can he burp and pass gas? If he does, is it like when we pass gas in water? (o.k I know this is gross but really. They don't show this stuff on the discovery channel.) What do you think?

ive poasted a question about my sex life and how to make it better but it seems everytime we try to have fun the baby wakes. and my husbind cant take it when she cries. so i go and totally get out of the moment. then we try again and she cries again. we have tried a baby sitter and everything. its so hard to let her go to someone else but me. i know that this is normal but how do i get over this? and is it possible to get pregnate right after you have a baby? i dont mean like right after but like a month or so? and if so how much of a chance is there? im so freaken out about this we have only done it once with no condom but i dont feel any different but i just want to know if its possible to do? i know that months and months later it is tho. but is it right away? 2-6 months im thinking?

My son is going to be 2 on Feb 27.. and I am due to have my daughter on Feb 2. I am a bit worried about how he will react to having a baby around the house. Even though he has seen me care for my infant nephew, and seems to have no problem with that, I am still concerned about his reaction to bringing the baby home... I tried giving him a "baby"(plastic doll) to care for.. and he showed no interest... its just sitting on the floor.. he doesnt want to play with it at all.
Are there any other ways to ease him into the idea of having another child around, and to me not having 100% of my time for him anymore? I'm looking for mom to mom advice!! I cant stand the thought of him thinking I am ignoring him... but I need him to understand that I cant give him all my attention anymore. Any tips?

My mother in law mentioned that she had a baby dinner after the baby was born for the "baby shower" for my sis in law...I told her that I didn't exactly want to wait until after the baby is born. My husband and I are going to be tryin for a baby and I want to start getting things for the baby..but my mother in law says not to because people will buy things for me. ButI dont want to not have tings when the baby is born because I was "hoping" that people would buy the things for me. I don't expect anyone to buy any type of expensive item or cheap items. Is there anything wrong with making a registry, and buy things throughout my pregnancy and then leave the other things on the list for my shower? Do you think i'm being rude? I just want one child and I want everything for my child for this special time. I don't want to miss out because I was waiting incase someone would buy something

My son is 10 months old and over the last couple days has developed a "rash-like" marking on his calves.... but its not a rash, just kind of looks like one. Could he be allergic to something and only break out on his legs? What else could this be?? Its like a red peppering on his legs.......

My baby was born with a clear skin. However when he was between 1-2 months old, some rashes appeared on his face predominantly on the cheeks and forehead thereby creating a "rough" look and texture. Our pedia recommended some ointment but cautioned us it's prolonged use because it may cause the skin to whiten abnormally. After using it for 3-4 days, the skin cleared but the rashes returned after a week since we stopped using the ointment. After that, we used an ointment with steroids for one week. His skin cleared but the condition recurred after 2 weeks after we stopped using the second ointment. Though, the "rashes" are smaller and less spread this time. Any similar experiences or treatment suggestions? It was said that his skin was so sensitive. Thank you.

My girl is 5 months old, she was watching me drink some fresh juice consisting of carrot, pear, strawberries, and lemon. I thought I might let her try so she had a try and seemed to love it. I decided to put 20ml in a sipper cup , and she absolutly loved it. I couldnt find anything on this in my books , and wondering if its safe for her to drink fresh juice like this? She has a keen interest in solid foods, but is mainly on formula. She has tried many types of fruit and vege and there hasnt been any reactions and is a very keen eater. Sorry to ramble, but back to my question, is fresh juice, either vege, fruit or a combination, safe to give my 5 month old occasionally?

I watch my baby brother about three days a week when I am not at school. He is just about to turn six months old. Today I was in a hurry doing something else in the other room and he accidentally rolled off the edge of the changing table (which, thank goodness is only about a foot off the ground!) but still... it was very very scary.

He cried for about thirty seconds but was absolutely fine as soon as I held him. I feel awful about it but I know these things do happen. Anyway, do you think we should take him to the doctor to make sure nothing internal is wrong? Just wanted to ask some parents and see what they think. thanks!

Our 11 week old little girl likes to be held. If put down when asleep she will soon wake and start to cry. The crying will escalate to full on screaming till she's picked up. Once up she's fine. I can't carry her 24-7, is this normal 11 week old behavior or am I starting a bad habbit?

Is it possible for me to breastfeed my coming baby? I had my nipples pierced for about 6 months. They weren't healing correctly, so I took them out about 4 months before I got pregnant. They are completely healed, and you can't even see a scar any more. Will this affect my breastfeeding? Will it make it more difficult or even impossible?

We are having a baby girl and me and my wife are full Irish. Not that it has too much to do with anything, but most are Irish names. These are the names

Elena or Elaina
Nadia (my mother's)
Maurina or Maria (variations of Maureen) (After Maureen O'Hara, who my wife and her family were close with)
Bronwyn
Aibreann
Alanna (my grandmother's name)
Sophia
Victoria
