Ok, theoretically, babies practice the hiccuping reflex to practice latching onto a nipple (at least, that's what In the Womb said). But there is no point in them burping and passing gas when there is no gas. There is just water in there. Their lungs don't even have air in them yet. But it is a unique question you pose, and I thank you for that...I'm sick of "Am I pregnant?" questions.

There is no air in there. baby does not have bowel activity if it did ther woud be an emergency. Dont worry there will be lots of gas and burping during and after every feeding after baby is born and some of it is even cute.

i dont think that your baby burps while inside you...or even pass gas, i dont know for sure, but i didnt think they could...although i do know that they do pee, then they end up eating it, per say, and it mixes with the vernix that sheds before birth and they ingest it which is why their first poos are so dark and tar-ry

There's nothing in the baby's digestive system to cause gas.

it is because when you have hiccups your body moves a little. burps and farts are just gas and the baby is so small there is really no pressure behind them

well, if the baby's mouth and anus were actually open while it was inside you, then i think they would take in a lot of fluid! a hiccup is just a twitch in the baby's diaphragm, so thats why you don't need to have your mouth open to hiccup.
