I just read an article about this subject on the net yesterday. No it is not safe.If his head was to fall forward he could suffocate.Babies who sleep in car seats instead of cribs have more breathing problems like asthma. Please do not let him sleep in a car seat when not in a car.And if on a long trip check on him often.Babies should always sleep on a firm mattress on their backs. My son who is now 13 months didn't sleep thru the night untill he was 4 months old.He too seemed to like his car seat better its not worth the risk!Put him in his crib.It will get easier!

NO! Please see this article:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/hsn/20061208/hl_hsn/infantcarseatsmightposebreathingrisks
and this one:

There are also other articles if you do an internet search on infants sleeping in car seats. It has been shown that they may not be able to breath as well because their airways become blocked due to their positions in the car seat.
My daughter did not like to sleep in her bed when she was that young either. We used a bouncer seat that had higher sides on it- but made sure we buckled her in too so she was secure. We also didn't leave her unattended in it. I would stay right next to her and catnap. The bouncy seats usually do not sit up so high as to interfere with the baby's breathing- they tend to lay back a little bit more but aren't flat.
Plus, the older your baby becomes the harder it will be to get him to sleep anywhere else. My daughter at that age just liked to be held- so it could be that your son just wants that closeness with you and feels more snuggled in his carseat. Try swaddling him if you haven't already.

It is safe if you are sure to check on him. Make sure that you angle the car seat backwards so that he is more in line with the ground and unbuckle the chest buckle - this will help keep the car seat from restricting his breathing.
Many, many, many parents do this. Wherever the child falls asleep, let them sleep, but always check on them.
My daughter would only nap in her car seat or her bouncy chair, so we just let her sleep there, but would check her breathing every few minutes or so.

We had one of those all in one recliner/carrier/car seats. The kid loved it while he was in it, but also didn't mind sleeping in his bed. Snuggling kids with too many blankets is not always a good idea, as they can easily get wrapped up in them and that would hinder their breathing. Snug-fitting onesies made of fleece or similar mat. seem the best to keep baby warm. When he slept in the car seat, it was always in the reclined position.

the articles may show that its not safe... however placing your baby on their stomachs to sleep is a no no too... and well guess what the doctor had me do with my last child... when he wasn't in the car seat... put him in the crib on his stomach.
this is only if you have an apnea monitor, and you are talking about a reflux baby
if he is more comfortable sleeping sitting up, try a memory foam prop for reflux babies, put it in his bed.
you also need to discuss this with the doc... he may be a reflux baby

I don't see a problem with it.My daughter went thru a stage where she would only sleep in her carseat. The minute we would put her in her crib she would wake up.But in her carseat there was no problem with her staying asleep.I think she was around that same age as your little man.But now she is a year old and will only sleep in her crib.

We went by this right problem - and when you consider that we did not favor to make ours cry no-one were given any sleep till she replaced into 11 months - and in then end after we made the alternative to type it out for once and for all, it replaced into solved after 5 days' artwork. She's now 2 and has slept right ever when you consider that. the answer, i'm afraid, is managed crying, and prefer you we ruled it outright. even with the undeniable fact that it truly is the in problem-free words answer. toddlers choose the protection of recurring of their lives, and use triggers to go inclusive of that recurring. on the instantaneous your infant is associating breast feeding with sleep, and his recurring is to unsleeping each and every 2 hours and he needs the set off of your breast to bypass lower back. each and every 2 hours. you need to modify his set off, and which ability a shift in his recurring. particularly of the cycle you're in now, the set off for sleep must be something like a musical toy that performs for 2 or 3 minutes, so tha he finally friends the music with the initiating of dozing time on the initiating ne is evidently going to be upset, and he will exhibit this by the in problem-free words way he's acquainted with - crying. Loud and much, fantastically in the initiating. and that i comprehend, it truly is heartbreaking - believe me i comprehend. yet you stick with a thoroughly inflexible plan that's to allow him cry for 2 minutes in the initiating, then 5, then seven, then ten before travelling him. You neverleave him for more effective than fifteen minutes. once you visit him you do not %. him up, purely quietly tell him it truly is time for sleep, and then go away the room - do not stay there! on the end - and as I say it took us 5 days of steely decision - he will no longer associate your breast inclusive of his set off, yet particularly the music. he will be extra content cloth and shelter, and all and dissimilar receives some sleep at very last! absolutely the major is that once you settle on to do it you DOPN'T WAIVER - in the different case it truly is merciless. think about distressed your little boy in problem-free words to bypass lower back on your old ideas. do not do it! purely rememer he isn't any longer in soreness, he isn't any longer ill, he purely needs what he's used to. he's purely were given to get used to a unique way. good luck - yet in case you do it it truly is going to artwork.

yeah..i am getting a degree in child development and i have learned with experience that if a baby is more comfortable in a certain place let them sleep there.. i think its perfectly safe as long as the carseat is on the floor and there is nothing above the carseat that could fall on the baby. other than that i think your safe!! good luck

Yeah, that should be fine. I know some moms put their babies in the car seat if they need to be more upright, like for reflux problems.
