Newborn & Baby - September 2006

My husband and I are expecting a baby in December. I have decided to breastfeed and my husband totally supports that.
But he was not breastfed and doesn't really know anyone who has. He would like to read about the benefits of course, but also about other things like latching issues, what I may be going through physically and also how it may affect his thoughts about my breasts (sexually)... I want him to be aware of these things as much as he wants to be aware of them.
Any suggested websites or links where we can find more for him to read?
Thank you in advance!

I know that it happens in its own time, but when we first brought her home from the hospital she only woke up once to be fed. Now she is waking up 2 times. And my husband and I are doing good with splitting who wakes up (he takes round 1 and I take round 2), and I am enjoying the alone time my daughter and I have at 5am, but we are just curious on if there is any advice from others who've been there. Thanks,

I'd like to know what type of water most people give their baby to drink, whether it be to mix with formula or to drink on its own. My doctor says to give him tap water, but I'm not so sure, then others say that bottle water should not be given either... Any opinions?

I nursed my first son and and I'm currently pregnant with my second. I have still not decided if I am going to nurse again. My 6 year old nephew told my mom that "boobies are for feeding babies" (his mother is nursing his 2 year old sister). And although this may be true, I'm not sure if I do decide to nurse again how to explain it to my 4.5 year old son as I KNOW he will ask me. I don't need him going to PreSchool telling girls/women that their boobs are for feeding babies.
So my question:
Mothers who are nursing who have other small children; how did you explain this to them?

She is happy and fine when she wakes up. We recently did a modified cry it out as she was waking every hour on the hour looking for her pacifier. It only took two nights and three crying jags and she learned to put herself to sleep. Then she started this waking up thing where she'll sit in her crib and talk to herself for anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. It keeps me awake and drives me nuts. I know I shouldn't worry since she's content but I worry she's not getting enough sleep and sometimes I grab her and feed her in bed just to get us both back to sleep. I don't know how to get past this. Any suggestions?

Even in the hospital when the nurse put something in his ears to monitor his earing, she put it at the lowest decibel and still he responded, she said that babies dont normally respond to the lowest decibel noise made in their ears. How about your baby is she/he sensitive to noise?

No matter how many burps she has, my daughter is still spitting up a lot after some feeds. Pediatrician diagnosed acid reflux and said to keep her upright. It seems to bother her, especially the really big ones. Any tips appreciated.

I have seen reusable nappies made from bamboo pulp. Do they work? Do they leak? Do they last as long as other types of reusables?

I gained 22lbs while preg but was already overweight. So far I'm doing great and have lost that plus 10lbs but would like to lose the extra I was already packing from my first child. Going back to work and will work 8 hr days plus driving a total of 1hr20min. Gyms are not an option because of where I live. Trying to fit all this in and still have time toplay with my babies(NB and 2yrs). Any dieting/fitness tips while I'm breastfeeding.

I have a 3 week old baby and I've noticed that his left eye is brown and his right eye is a grayish bluish color. I even brought it to his pediatricians attention to see if maybe I'm imagining things and she said his other eye is def lighter than his other. she said he might be unique and have one eye lighter than the other but we wont know for sure until around the age of 9 months. has anyone expierenced anything like this with their newborn before or had a kid with one eye one color and the other a different one?

Why do people look at a pretty baby and say " oh, what a beautiful baby "!!
Then why don't they just be honest, when they see an ugly baby ?
