When i take my 5 month old baby over to my moms, there is always so much yelling and screaming becuase of my little brother, newphew. No matter how much i tell them not to scream around my baby they just dont listen. A friend told me that yelling, loud music tv, screaming can make a baby deaf by age 3. Will my little bro and nephews screaming affect my baby's hearing in the future?

The baby should be okay as long as it is not a constant noise 24/7. My daghter is LOUD! She seems to always be yelling or screaching when she plays or talks to my 5 month old son. My doctor said that he should be fine, but try to keep her away from his ears. As long as the noise is not constant and is not really close the ears, there shouldn't be any damage. I would have your pediatrician check the baby's ears just incase and do regular checkups as I do, but otherwise try not to worry yourself into a panic. You know your baby better than anyone else, and if you feel that there is something wrong, then avoid the situations. Always trust your gut first, every case is different! Good luck, and I hope the best for your baby's hearing.

The power in a human scream is not enough to make a person deaf so it is unlikely that your baby will be affected. But incessant noise may disturb the baby need to rest and that may not be good for his health as baby do need a lot of sleep.

This is a needless worry. Babies don't develop hearing problems from, vacuums, dogs barking, loud noises. As a matter of fact, it should become adjusted to every day noises.Your friend, although trying to be helpful, is entirely wrong. Relax, your baby will survive quite nicely, even in all the noise and confusion of rambunctious older children.

Regardless if it does or doesnt make the baby deaf....it's not cool for a baby to be in that kind of environment so I wouldnt take your baby there.

We'd have a lot of deaf people in the world if that were true.
