When I nursed him for the first time. After he settled in, which he did almost immediately, I picked up my copy of 'The House at Pooh Corner.' I'd read it to him every day while I was pregnant. When I started reading, he stopped nursing, opened his eyes and stared directly at me! It was the most awesome moment of my life beside first having him placed in my arms.
It is never too early to start reading to your child. Reading while nursing just added to the pleasure and love of reading for him. Simultaneously nourishing his body and his mind have paid off well. He always scored in the 99th percentile on standardized reading tests. (It is not possible to score 100% even if you get all the questions correct, which he often does.) I instinctively knew that this would happen and it did.
That also confirmed for me that babies DO hear in the womb.

I remember being amazed that that new little person came out of me and I was responsible for him (and my husband of course). I am a grandmother now and I was present when 2 of my 8 grandchildren were born what an honour to witness that. Everytime I see a baby born (even on the tv )I cry a little and reflect on what a miracle it is - eventhough it happens every minute of everyday around the world, it is truly a miracle

Unfortunately for me I had to have an emergency c-section @ 29 weeks at 5:59 pm and did not get to see my son until 4am, and then the nurses wouldn't even let me touch his foot or anything. Finally 2 days later when my husband drove me to Children's hospital I got to hold him for just 2 short minutes while the nurse changed the bedding in his incubator. The next day the nurse let me hold him and she told me she would be back in 10 minutes to put him back, but they had an emergency with another baby and I got to hold him for an hour before she came back. I didn't want to let go of him!

Honestly, Im not sure if its what most people would say, but you feel a sense of relief that everything is ok and then you just feel really really tired! It almost takes a moment to let it all sink in and then it hits you that your a mom and that lasts forever

The day that I was able to bring her home from the NICU. My daughter was born 6 weeks premature. We were told, after 24 hours that she was doing fine and was breathing on her own; however, to expect her to be in intensive care up until my due date. She was doing so well that she came home after 8 days! Thank you Jesus!!

When he slid out and they layed him on my belly. He was blue (ambilical cord around his neck) and slimey but so beautiful. I touched his hand, I was scared they would yell at me for touching him then i remember he was mine, i MADE him. They took him to get him breathing and cleaned off and cant remember anything else. Just those big eyes looking at me as he lay on my tummy. It was like the world disappered (didn't even notice them sewing me up)
