It is natural for babies to wake up a few times at night. They are following their "feeling rythms" at this time and this is usually - "I'm hungry." They have not yet acquired "adult" time settings. It's great that you and your husband are sharing the joys of parenting. This will help shape your infant into a well-rounded adult much later on.
It may help to put her to bed at a certain time (ex. 8PM) regularly after a nice, active day with mom and dad (with numerous naps and feedings in between during the day). Some soft, soothing music of natural sounds like waterfall, rain, regular heartbeat (remember she was enveloped in such a surrounding while in your womb), gentle classical music interspersed with recordings of mom and dad's voices may also be a big sleep-inducer.
Like my own parents used to say, "Love her (or him) smply love her (or him).

My daughter woke up every 3 hours at first. At 2 months, everyone was telling me to keep her up later so she would sleep through the night, but I didn't feel comfortable with that, and it didn't seem the right thing to do. My mom said just to wait, and it would happen on it's own. Sure enough, at 9 weeks, she started off sleeping 6 hours, from 10pm to 4am, and it increased from there to a full night's sleep. Seems like you have it good now, with her only waking up 2 times. It's very normal for her young age, so I'd just keep dealing with it and you will have restful nights soon enough!

How much does your daughter weigh? I ask only because my son weighed almost 9 lbs when he was born
At one month he would wake up even more often that your daughter, my mother made a suggestion that maybe he was hungry and to give him some (runny) rice cereal mixed with formula (or breast milk). My mother had 5 kids..so at the time I considered her an expert and still do!
I tried that and he would sleep from around 11pm to 4-am.
Hope this helps...it sure did for me! My son is 27 now!

2 times and she is only a month old? consider yourself really lucky. My first didn't sleep through the night till 6 months. I have a 3 month old who still gets up 1 to 2 times a night. Babies usually don't move into their schedule until being home for a week. If you had drugs during labor, the trip to be born is exhausting, not to mention all the new things to see are tiring too. Your baby is right where she should be...don't worry about it until she is 4-6 months..then you can try to get her sleeping better.

It all depends when she is going down for the night if I go to bed at 9pm and the baby is up at 3am then she slept her 6hours. I would put her in right before I go then it isn't too bad. At 1 month they will be sleeping a lot my only advice is to nap when she naps so that you can be rested as well. The only thing that I did do that was against doctors orders was at her last feeding I made a cereal bottle for the baby. Nothing too think just added a little baby cereal to the milk to keep her belly a little fuller at night.

At this age, most babies will wake up one to three times during the night to be fed. It's normal - hang in there, it will get better. My baby started sleeping through the night when he was 4 months. Mostly, I think they will stop before they are 1 year old.

putting cereal in the bottle does not work and at a month old the baby does not need anything but formula/breastmilk. id say you are pretty lucky to only have to get up twice in the night, there for a while my son was waking up every hour on the hour, but i agree with the person that said it depends on when you put them to bed, try keeping the baby awake until you go to bed and then also make sure to get the baby up at the same time every morning so that a schedule starts to form. good luck and congratulations.

Wish I could help with this one. With both of my kids slept through the night from the day they were born. I actually had to physically wake them up to feed them every couple hours to make sure they were eating enough. 2 times a night though is really good. some babies wake up every hour or two.

you still have a while before she'll sleep through the night. she's still pretty young and eating every few hours. when her feeding times spread out, then she will probably sleep longer.
of course, as you know...none of us can really say WHEN she'll sleep through the night, though.
keep in mind, too...i have a neice who is 4 years old and she is an awful sleeper. so, things could get better, or they could stay the same....
take care.
