A good friend of mine is having a small party for her son and I am not sure what is appropriate for the boy. Although I have met him on a few occations (his younger sister and my son play), I have never spent any time with him so I do not understand the Autism. Any gift suggestions would be great as this family means a lot to me.

I have tried asking him which ones he would like to give away to other kids and I've tried pointing out that some of them are broken beyond any hope of repair;but he looks at them with such soulful puppy eyes and I haven't the heart to force him.

His room will explode one day from so much stuff.

Should I just do it when he's not around and hope he won't notice that some of the older toys are missing?

We are traveling together for 5 hr flight. Should I bring her with me to the bathroom or do I let her stay in her seat? Should I bring valuables with me (laptop)? Do I ask another passenger to keep an eye on her?

My sister's kid (6) plays video games that are rated M. (Resident Evil...etc). He also listens to violent music and watches horror movies. Would you allow your children who are so young to do this?

A 11 year old boy is taking things from my 9 year old. We are all from the same neighborhood and see one another everyday. His mom says he doesnt steal. His parents are divorced and the mom says his dad has money and buys him everything , so he doesnt have to steal. All he has to say to his mom is oh, dad got that for me, when really it was taken from my son. He only wants to come over and play occasionally but my son lets the boy play with everything. When my son goes to his house they boy says he can only play with one thing. My son sees things at his house he knows was his from the start because the boy never had it before.

My younger son has a best friend. But I swear, the best friend's mother snubbed me! This morning I thought it was me picking up the wrong vibes, but this afternoon at pick-up she did it again! (no eye contact, no hello, one question, a effusive "HIII!!!" to another mother. At pick up, Me: "Hi!" Her: "OK, Bye!")
If it were just some other mother, I'd shrug it off.
But I know I'll probably have to deal with her again 'cause our kids are close.
Background: She was talking like best buddies a couple months ago. Then she starts bad mouthing the people who live around here. I suspect she's less than happy with her marriage, so that might also be a factor. Then at my son's party, she was really silent.
So either she's so immersed in her own problems or she's lumped me with all the other people she doesn't like..?
What would you do? What should I do?

I always have had a real close relationship with him and did not have a big problem with it as long as he did it at home and never in school or public which he agreed not to. I also heard that it is healthy for his immune system..rarely is he sick. But last week two boys in the neighborhood came over to see if he had gotten home from summer camp. They have to walk past the family room window to knock on the back door and so they glanced in to see if he was home. He had been home for about 15 minutes and was watching his favorite cartoon. At that moment he was deeply into the TV and unfortunately, his afternoon nose picking and eating. His friends watched it for several minutes and finally cracked up and banged on the window. My poor son was so ashamed because no one had ever caught him so "red handed" before. He swears he never does it in public. When I ask him if he wants to stop he says yes, but he still really likes doing it. Anyone out there (kids or parents) have this problem?

Ok I want you to answer this question.Tell me why when some girls get into highschool(and remember not all)when they get into highschool they start going out late, disobeying their parents, maybe doing a whole lot of other stuff that a highschooler shouldnt do.And then maybe a couple of weeks later they hear somebody saying"When are you due?" and they wonder how they became like this tell me why you think some girls are like that they do something that can cause a whole lot of trouble and then they wound up doing something that they really regret.ok im asking you this because i had this question at school and I wanted to share it with you.So tell me what you think and if you want to talk about it rather than posting it just go to my profile and get my email.

Oy vey, my 6 year old son starts a dialog with the world the second he opens his eyes and doesn't stop until he finally sleeps at night. And most of the time, he just paces back and forth while he gives me detailed descriptions of the game he's been playing or the book he's been reading or the show he's been watching. LOL! As my mother says, he was vaccinated with a victrola needle (record player needle for those too young to know what a victrola needle is).

Anyone else have youngsters that just won't shut up?

My 6 year old is still a messy eater, he gets food on the table, on his shirt and all over his face. Is this normal and what I do? He already has to clean up after himself and wash the table and wash his face.

Once in a blue moon I'll meet another "cool mom". By "cool" I mean open-minded, youthful, easy-going.... I definately don't fit in with the other tennis playing suburbanite mommys around here.
So I'll meet an other (I think) like-minded parent and then later I'll get weird "oh, it's *you*" vibes the next time I call them or see them.
Is it just I'm picking up the wrong signals?
Yes, I do have friends, but why is it so hard to make new ones after 30? What can I do?

My 11 1/2 yr. old step son just came to live with us 6 weeks ago. My husband's ex-wife got tired of dealing with his behavior and told my husband it was his turn. We have had problems with my stepson stealing, both food(snacks, candy, cokes, etc.) and money(the latest was $20.00 from me). He seems to show no remorse or shame, only anger that he got caught. He has a bad habit of contantly asking "Can I have this, Can I have that?" or "Can you buy me this, Can you buy me that?" I know that he is probably just trying to see what he can get out of us, but it is real aggrivating. My husbands ex-wife kept my husband out of his kids lives for about 4 yrs. He fought her for a long time, but eventually gave up when he saw he was getting no where with her and didn't have the finances to keep fighting her. My stepson thinks it was because he was a bad kid. He doesnt want to see the councelor that we are taking him to. Says it is not going to help and that he doesn't need any help.
