I have been a leader for 3 yrs now. I have several websites I use for my crafts. I also use my local councils website for ideas. They put out 2 calendars a year with several different activities the girls can participate in.
This past year we took a tour of the local SPCA (we made cat toys and delivered them).
We went to the local ice cream parlor for a tour and got to eat ice cream.
The library let us come for a morning and we did a craft, took a tour, read for a long time and played games outside while eating snakc. They put together a nice gift bag for all the girls to enjoy.
We carved pumkins, made gingerbread houses, valentines for the local retirement community.
We participated in the local parade at christmas.
Had a skating party, bowling party, and will minigolf before school starts in a couple of weeks.
http://www.allrecipies.com has a lot of no-bake items you can make with the girls.
http://www.girlscouts.org is the offical site in NY. you will be able to find you local council from this site also.

http://www.dltk.com
http://www.enchantedlearning.com
http://www.design-it.com is where I get a lot of the fun patches for the back of the uniform.
I also take a lot out of the brownie try-it book. We worked on about 8 try-its this past year.
I have planned for this year a tour of the postoffice, bank and police station. Everyone in the community is more than happy to help when you call for a tour.

I was a troop leader. We had it every 2 weeks. One week we would do a try it from the Brownie handbook and earn a patch. The next time we would do a craft for a holiday or something fun. There are also little trips you can do or have guest speakers. We would take the girls to the post office or a local ice cream store, things like that.

I was a Brownie girl scout for a few years, and our troop leader a.k.a my mom, lol, had us do all sorts of thing. Some that I can remember are: adopt an elderly person at a local nursing home who doesn't have any family and visit as a troop from time to time, sent little cards, draw them pics to hang up on their walls, exc. Also, we painted bird houses, and rolled pine cones in peanut butter and bird seed, making our own bird feeders. We went caroling around Christmas, made tambourines for New Years. Just little cute things like that. We always had a blast though, coloring, using glitter, and everything else! Hope this helps.

There are badges and patches that are earned by the troop or individually by the girl. Troop leaders usually get the brownie handbook and find patches that would be fun for the girls to earn. Get one of the books and check it out.

visit local firehouse (they get a badge)
Our troop did this project:
Each girl earned $5.00 for doing chores around the house. Then they went shopping together at a supermarket, got to tour the store bakery, etc. From there we all went to the local food pantry to donate the food they bought. Of course all non-perishable

there is many things that you can do get to know your girls and find out what they like to do. You can also do the activities in their brownie books for badges etc.

Hmmm... let's see if I can remember some fun ones.
Collect leaves of different sizes/types in the fall... Place them vein side up under plain white paper and use crayons to color over them so you can see the leaf pattern. Use different colors and leaves like a collage and then trim the edges of the paper and frame them.
Get a few clothing catalogs and make paper dolls or "scenes" from cutting out items, people, pets, toys, etc.... and gluing them on a page to make a picture.
Beads to make bracelets, necklaces, etc. (My Grandmother loved her eyeglasses chain from my daughter. Just remember to use light beads!)
Join a penpal program and write letters to their penpals... I had one from China when I wa a girl. I lost touch with her in junior high, but it was a lot of fun to get the airmailed letters.
Valentines made by hand in February... (For each other, parents, veterans, elderly, anyone you can think of to bring a smile to.) Or get candy molds and make chocolates to go with them. They're easy & fun!
Easter eggs, scavenger hunts, decorated hollow eggs (inside blown out) at Easter...
Pumpkin carving contests at Halloween...
Canned food drives at Thanksgiving...
Gingerbread houses, advent calendars and snowflakes & ornament making at Christmas time....
Check out the kids' crafts and recipe books in your local library or at Barnes & Noble, etc... Lots of ideas there. Possibilities are endless... Have fun!
