I want to take her school clothes shopping, and get her some really cute stuff, but I live in a small town and don't make it to the city too often, where should I go to find some clothes that are afordable, NOT WALMART!

Also what should I be doing to help prepare her? We read at night, and she is really good with her math, anything I can do to help her get ahead?

Does anyone think that sex eduation for 4th graders is too soon? Considering that kids are having sex starting in the 4th grade. Is this too early of an education or should it be stalled until 5th grade. I would like to know anyone thoughts, feelings, reactions ,etc on the matter. Thanxs

What do you think of the new Barbie toy Barbie and Tanner? It's Barbie and a dog. The problem I'm having is that children are supposed to feed the dog treats and then the dog "poops" them out when the child pushes down on it's tail. Barbie then picks up the "poop" with a scooper and puts it in a bag. What do you think of this? My daughter wants it for her 6th birthday. Does it teach responsibility? Or is it going to far playing with dog "poop"?

The hospital thinks he has mild constipation (he doesn't like alot of fruit or veg) and so prescribed a powder drink. Hasn't really helped. We've even been to a hypnotist. Worked great after the first visit - no dirty pants! But only lasted 6 weeks or so. Second visit to him was no good at all. Worried as problem is and always has been an issue between us.

They are always picking on each other and when I try to step in,they say mean things about me.Of course, they apologize later, but it still hurts my feelings.Would the mental health be able to figure out why they are so angry or would something else work instead.I never spank my kids, because my ex used to paddle them and left bruises on my son.I have custody of them now,and keep trying to show them that violence isn't the answer for anything.

I let my son go hang out up the street w/friends, finally, but I cannot break my fear of what could happen to them "out there". Especially with my daughter, she rarely goes to a friends house, & never walks anywhere. I know I need to let go a little--soon. They ask to go to the movies w/friends- to get dropped off & picked up. ..
Someone help! Are my kids still little & better off when I know their safe? Or do I need to "cut the umbilical cord"?

I'm the mom and secretly his pushing me away hurts my feelings, he probably picks up on this. Sometimes he studies my face and doesn't seem to like what he sees. I'd like to hear if this is a common phase, sounds familiar to anyone.

My son is 11 years old and we live on a dead end street in a safe neighborhood. He would be home by himself for about 1/2 hour in the AM and 2 1/2 hrs after school. There are some retired people on our street who are home most of the time and we live right across the street from a teacher at his new school. I know he's mature enough and I know he'll be safe, I'm just wondering if I could get into any trouble or if he's too young by law. (He'll be 12 in December)

Since we have moved into a "good" neighborhood. My daughter is less active . Most of the kids are involved in indoor educational activites. My daughter is 8, and weighs 102 lbs. My girl is beginning puberty and is very tall and soilid, not fat. However her clothing is costing me a fortune. Problem is all she want to do is eat and watch tvif no other kids are out. Even while she's out she doesn't run alot. I am 5-7 her dad is 5-11 225lbs. Is she just going to be an amazon? People make rude or stupid comments infront of her, to her, or try to restrict her eating or suggest I have a doctor look into it. I wasn't concerned until she started turning down food she liked and mentioned being on a diet.

What kind of chores can I give my children with out them complaining "I can't do this!" What kind of chores do your kids have.My son attentionspan is horrible. I'll send him to pick up toys and he will start playing with them, maybe whine, and then leave them there again he's 7. I feel like I am making him into a lazy man not to expect alot from him. On the other hand my daughter is 8 and does an excellent job with her chores. How can I get him to work better? Or should I just keep pulling out the belt.
