So that he doesn't accidenty burn himself, have your husband or plummer turn the 'hot' water valve down on the water heater. We did that when mine were little just so that they wouldn't burn themselves when they filled the bathtub. When they were older we turned it up a bit.You afraid of sterility?

My son did the same thing. He's six also. A few weeks ago, a store had bubbles on sale for five cents. I bought thirty bottles, and brought them home for my son. I told him that he could blow bubbles in the bathtub, and it worked. He hasn't taken a shower willingly since then. One night we were rushed to go somewhere and I made him take a shower to speed things up. He threw a fit since he didn't get take a "bubble bath"! They also sell crayons and stuff for the bathtub that are safe on most surfaces. My son is smart like yours, and he creates all kinds of masterpieces, then he wants to clean them off. Good luck! Hopefully you'll never have to walk into a steaming hot bathroom again.

If you dont make a deal about it, it will stop being an issue. My son use to take hot showers and one time he kept turning the hot water up as he got use to the temperature and it burned him without him feeling it.He didnt do that again on my advice. Is it the temperature or him wanting to shower often?Pick your battles smartly, but if he is in possible danger of getting burned, then set some rules on it.

What's wrong with a hot shower? If he's getting first/second/third degree burns on his body from the water, then I might could understand trying to get him to turn the temp down some. Otherwise...?

make a new rule
Bed time is right after shower time .. and limit the length of time he gets to spend playing in the shower ..
the cost of running hot water all day can add up.

I"m with the others, what is the problem? You'd prefer that he wanted to be dirty all the time? Or you want him to bathe in cold water? Hot showers are a good thing!

Its a miracle that a 6 yo boy even wants to take a shower. Unless its burning him don't hold him back. A clean boy is a happy boy.

Your 6 year old WANTS to do something that makes him clean? LET HIM! LOL!
Seriously....is the issue that he is in there too long and wasting water? If that's the case, set a timer and go get him out after "X" number of minutes.
