I have twin neaces Cora and Chanel. They will be turning 6 on Augest 29th. I have only met them like 3 times. They are both total girlie girls and love to dress up. Would a day at Club Libby-Lu, shopping and getting our pictures taken be a good choice for a gift. Money is not really a big factor. If you dont think that is good what are some better ideas.

My daugher is getting ready to go to the first grade and may not be ready. She was the youngest kindergardener in the entire district and her teacher even from day one was like i think she needs to develop her ability to focus more. We recently got her report card on which the teacher commented that socially she was o.k but cant perform basic functions and is easily distracted. When i ask her to do the same things she can. I know shes high strung but my question is should i let this teacher influence me and hold her back or just she how she does in a new classroom and enviorment. I know she knows more than what the teacher said she does b/c shes proven it to me before.

Thanks

On a busy morning like today I'm trying to make lunches and other things and get me and my family out the door, my 8 yr old daughter asks me for a long hug. That's fine, but then 10 minutes later she wants another one. And then another 10 minutes later another one. etc. etc. I don't deny her, because then what kind of mother would I be? But I wonder why she does it. Am I not giving her enough attention? Or is it a "control" issue? She always picks the most busy crazy times to do this. What should I do?

Has anybody done the Dores program which is supposed to help with learning etc. I've heard it's set excercises that your child has to do for 10 mins twice a day for about 12 months. Has anyone has success as it's quite expensive - around $5000.

I babysit a group of my neices and nephews on a regulat basis. When I have two of my nephews, Alex, and Jacob both age 5, they like to play violent war like games. They call it superheros. When they pretend to be good guys like Power Rangers, they are willing to use as much force to take down the bad guys as they need. The "bad guys" always get hurt. The main problem is the bad guys are usually a younger boy or a girl. The bad guys have no choice, but to play. The boys will just come up and jump on them. I try to explain that this behavoir isn't nice, and they shouldn't do it. But they insist that this is okay because they are good guys. Help! How can i stop war games?

A neighbor boy punched my 10 year old son in the face and hit him with a stick, leaving visible bruises. My son did not hit back, but told the boy's mother. She grounded her son. So, I didn't feel the need to talk to her about it. I told my son to kick the boy's butt next time the boy tried to take a swing at him.
I don't want my son to start fights, but I do want him to defend himself if someone else starts one. Did I do the right thing?

I took the best answers from the previous question and am taking a vote. Should we paint our nails, make cookies, or go out for ice cream? Daddy will spend time with the baby and adult sister.
