Places around Naperville and PLainfield, Illinois are a great place to raise kids. Plainfield's schools are excelling. Naperville was rated one of the best and safest places to live. However both of these towns are expensive to buy a house in.

I think California or Oregon, because there are beautiful cities to live in, and there is a great variety of activities to choose from. If you choose the city carefully, also, the safety-factor
is taken care of, practically. Also Olympia, Washington is a beautiful, beautiful city, with many interesting activities to choose from, try and learn about, and Olympia is a top-notch city when it comes to safety.

Hawaii, but I think you should consider what City. Each state has it good and bad depending on which city.
If you can't decide on a state, maybe you could try north/west corner of Tennessee, that way you are only a short skip to Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana, and Kentucky, try them all out.

I think it depends on what your kids are interested in. Most cities and towns have surveys on crime for their area. You can also find out about the school systems and what activities are available for your children. Smaller towns are safer for your children then large cities. Good luck if you are looking to relocate.
