What do you think of the new Barbie toy Barbie and Tanner? It's Barbie and a dog. The problem I'm having is that children are supposed to feed the dog treats and then the dog "poops" them out when the child pushes down on it's tail. Barbie then picks up the "poop" with a scooper and puts it in a bag. What do you think of this? My daughter wants it for her 6th birthday. Does it teach responsibility? Or is it going to far playing with dog "poop"?

well I think its a little of both. more so going too far with the poop because once the child runs out of 'treats', she will be feeding the dog poop. i think its more for play than responsibility... that comes with experience.

That's pretty much a fact of life, so I think it's good to teach the child responsibility like that. How many parents have had children who would swear to take care of a pet if they got one, then backed out after a few months because they then realized it was more effort than they thought? Way to go Barbie!

i personally think that the mattel company went too far with this one. if you think that your daughter is old enough to "care" for tanner, then get it for her. i too have a 6 year old, and i don't think that i would get it for her at his point in time. but all 6 year olds are different.;

Mattel has gone way over the edge on this one!

It depends. If the poop is made out of real poop, that's gross. If not, it's not gross.
