It actually depends on how tall your 12 yr. old is. If they are tall...almost their target adult height, then no...108 wouldn't be overweight. However, if your 12 yr. old is on the short end of the growth chart, this could very well be an issue. I would talk to your pediatrician about your concerns and if necessary, discuss lifestyle/diet changes that will help your 12 yr. old attain a more suitable weight for height. In the meantime, encourage your child to become more active outdoors or with sports, since a lot of kids these days would rather sit inside and play video games or watch t.v. Also try to select some more healthy meal/snack choices (if you haven't already done so) for your 12 yr. old to eat.

To have a point of reference, a height would be helpful. In general 108 lbs is well within the normal range for the height of the typical 12 yr old.

First of all does the child's doctor have concerns? Does he or she eat more than the average child. You also have to look at genetics. If the child is only 4ft tall, yeah most people would say they were over weight. But not only that, there is always fat versus muscle. It's not something that I would be to concerned with yet. Just listen to the doctor's advice and keep a watch. The childs height may shoot up and even everything out.

No, you're not overweight. If you research it, when you're 12, you need to be around that weight.108 is nothing compared to 12 year olds that weigh 180. So, I say no.

My 12 year old daughter weighs 100 pounds. She is thin, but has really long legs. She also like to run and does baton. It is necessary to keep children of any age active. As a nation.our children are over weight and have no initiative. One thing that we need to watch as parents is that children of this age are conscious of their body.It is the prime time for EATING DISORDERS to surface. These are dangerous and sometimes fatal. If you do feel your daughter is over weight, then put everyone in the house on a "diet".Not a real one but watch what you are cooking and the methods and this will help her eat healthier without telling her she is over weight.

My daughter is 12 and she weights more then that. Of course, I can't determine if your daughter is over weight simply because I don't know how tall she is. My daughter is over weight, but not dangerously so. I would imagine your daughter might be a tad over weight if she is of average height for her age as is my daughter. But as long as you promote outdoor activity instead of snacking and sitting indoors all day, it should correct itself. If you constantly nag the child about their weight, it will only have the reverse effect. Keep only healthy snacks around the house, and don't allow extra helpings of fattier foods at dinner time.

Well i'm 12 and i'm 100 but you are probably taller than me so when you go to the doctor's next, ask how much somebody your age and height should weigh.
