I want to take her school clothes shopping, and get her some really cute stuff, but I live in a small town and don't make it to the city too often, where should I go to find some clothes that are afordable, NOT WALMART!

Also what should I be doing to help prepare her? We read at night, and she is really good with her math, anything I can do to help her get ahead?

Get her some math flash cards if she doesn't have them yet.

Keep reading with her and let her see you reading as well.

Target always has great clothes. I love the Children's Place, Old Navy and Gap Kids, although they are kind of pricey sometimes. We buy a lot of kids clothes at Sears and JC Penny as well.

Hmmm...how about Goodwill? Or you could just steal some from your neighbor's kids? Just break into their house and stuff all their girl's clothes in your purse and haul @#$! In order to prepare her for school, remind her that it's going to be tough...she better try to fit in, otherwise she'll have very low self-esteem and have issues with her weight the rest of her life. Make sure to tell her that she's not the prettiest girl...just accept the fact that their will always be other girls that are prettier so that she doesn't develop this sense of false security (this'll come in handy when she gets to middle school). Make sure she does her homework..if she slacks off, put her in the car and start driving to the adoption agency. She'll definitely be a good student if you do this whenever she acts up.

My daugher is going into 3rd. I would go shopping at old navy. I would also recommend the internet. I also live in a small town and always shop on the internet. If it doesn't fit then you can take it back.
To prepare her for the good stuff , School I would read and write and hug her as much as you can. 1st grade is were they learn to read alot. I don't know if your daughter can read or not but by the time she is done with 1st grade she will be a reader. I always take my daughter to the library it is awesome to get those easy to read book.
We really got into Junie B Jones. Read that one with her at night they have a bunch of diffrent ones to choose from. You will enjoy them as much as she does if you read them together.

Target has cute clothes and they are reasonably priced and of decent quality. You can also shop online. A lot of places like Old Navy or Children's Place will offer free shipping on orders over $50 or discounts at certain times of the year.

Reading at night with her is great! First grade is a little more structured than Kindergarten, so maybe discuss how her day will differ from last year?

I like shopping on Ebay- plenty of great name brand clothes, and many of them dirt cheap! For this sort of thing though, it's best to start collecting items at the beginning of the summer, a few at a time, because some people are a little slow to ship your stuff after the purchase, but I've saved TONS of money shopping this way. It's fun too!

Actually Wal-Mart has really cute gauchos right now! Maybe if there is an outlet mall near you with Gap kids or Old Navy. Target has cute stuff too.
Flash cards for math, small books for reading and spelling. They have good workbooks at Wal-Mart.
I agree with Bears#1 Junie B Jones books are really great! That's how my daughter learned to read as well as she does. Read to her at bedtime every night even when school starts.

Go to Macy's and check out the clearance rack. I just got 3 name-brand dresses there for $28. But, make sure you go on Friday-Sunday, when they have an extra 25-40% off clearance. Gap has a great clearance rack, too, and they have a lot of clearance items online as well.

be there to help her for the first week of school she will be tried no naps and let her sleep it takes about a week to get use to first grade
and buying good clothes will not be good for school they play in dirt and paint and get really dirty .
so do not waste money on clothes ,
just jeans and shorts and shirts will be ok
on picture day is ok but be there to change her to play clothes.

Explain to her that some kids are cruel and will tease other kids for no particular reasons at all and not to pay any attention to her, also explain to her that she is not going to make perfect on all of her work but do to the best she can and that you will still be proud of her.
