Our son currently is a freshman at the junior college in our area. The plan we have arranged with him is that we would reimburse him for his college tuition based on his grades. (He paid the first semester on his own.) If he did well, he would have enough money to pay for his next semester and put some of it in the bank. (i.e. so much for an A, B, C - nothing for D's or F's.)
His best friends are also attending Jr. College and they hate it. All of their high school friends are now returning home for break and sharing what it's like to live away from home and party, etc.etc. None of them have to work. Their parents are paying for everything.
My son has worked since his freshman year during the spring, summer and fall at a local country club.
He has always had to purchase most of his wants, while we have supplied his needs. He feels angry and disappointed in us that we cannot send him away to university. How can we get through to him?
He's stuck in his anger.

To belittle anyone who doesn't, or are unable to breastfeed?

I'm tired of coming on here and seeing people getting reemed out because for some reason or another, they had to turn to formula. Or that if you try to reassure someone that formula won't hurt their baby, people jump down their throats.

I'm fully aware of the benefits of breastfeeding. I would always recommend it first if asked for my opinion. I work in a NICU - if anything I have a better understanding of the benefits than the average person. I also know that formula is a perfectly safe and nutritious alternative.

People need to understand that while it can be wonderful for mom and baby - it can be a horriblly difficult experience for others. Some women simple are unable to manage it, and they should not be made to feel like failures or a bad mom because of it.

Just my two cents, people. Lighten up.

I had a baby boy 3 weeks ago and when I go for my 6 week check-up, I plan on getting on some form of birth control, but I know nothing about the different types out there. ( I was told I couldn't have children because I had ovarian cancer and had an ovary and tube removed. I had fertility drugs to conceive my 4 year old, and who knew that sex causes pregnancy? My baby was conceived au natural, lol )
I know there's the shot, a patch, and the regular daily pills. What are the pros and cons of each? Which do you prefer?
Thanks ladies!!

as many answered to this question, http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AiI53dykUSMZZWdr2Yi53xZ87hR.;_ylv=3?qid=20071222174448AAfigNx , then why choose spanking over any other approach?

If, no matter what, it's going to take a few 'lessons' before a child truly internalizes the message being conveyed by a punishment, why would a parent choose spanking to convey the message?

I'm truly just wondering how this choice is made in homes where negative reinforcement is the chosen method of parenting.

i know it is long but plsss read, my sister in law,her 9 month old,my 3 kids and my husband all live together (just for now) her baby has been sick with the cold/flu for quite sometime (her babysitter is always sick)..today she has had tons of boogies coming out her nose and coughing. so i told my 6 yr old and my 2 yr old to stay away from her until she gets better. i also have a 5 month old and dont want him to get it. later tonight her "sick" baby was touching around my daughters dinner plate and she said "no i dont want to get sick " tro the baby. my sis in law then said "in a mean voice she is not gonna get u sick, where did u get that from". my daughter then said from me and my sis in law stated that my son got her daughter sick from sneezing on her (untrue, her baby has been sick all the time for weeks on and off) hubby said something to her and she started slamming doors and junk all mad saying ohhh so my baby got your kids sick. and is ignoring my children now. would u get mad?

When they put a Y or I or extra letters in a baby's name? I have seen some pretty messed up spellings of a baby's name.. setting them up for crap when they are in school and older in life. Parents think they are trying to do something creative and original.. .but everyone else is naming their kids the same way. Can't we just use the regular spellings?

Sorry for the rant.. but I'm tired of people thinking they are being different when they are all being the same with their child's name. Give me something truly different then you get your cookie!

Okay, here's the deal.. I got a positive pregnancy test at home Wednesday morning and Wednesday night, I began bleeding so I thought maybe I was miscarrying since the pregnancy test earlier in the morning said I was pregnant. Well, I went to the ER that night and they did a blood test which said I wasnt pregnant. Ive heard that it was possible to have your period while being pregnant and also to have a blood test come back negative and still be pregnant. Could I still be pregnant since the home pregnancy test said I was pregnant even though the blood test said negative?

She will not play in her room upstairs. We have threatened to throw all her toys away, and that didn't work either. I am having her bag them up right now to put "in the trash" (basement, but she will think the trash). Any suggestions?

I am this 37 1/2 weeks pregnant and i am scared that when the baby is born i will have to eventually leave the baby with the fathers family. He is a drug addict. His family is really supportive and good people. He is not a bad person either but he always tries to get clean but it never lasts for more than a week and i can never believe him. We are obviously not together and i need advice on what to do for the future, to prevent having to leave my baby with the father without going through court. Or how i should even go about dealing with this situation??

37 weeks here. I thought when I sat down to go pee, that after I peed (sp?) liquid kept coming even though I felt as if I were finished. But it's been 3 hours and I haven't had contractions or felt anything unnormal...

The nurse I called said that if I didn't feel liquid trickle down my leg for an hour after that, it was probably not my water breaking.

I've narrowed it down and here are my favorites.

Genevieve Marie and Everlie Sage.
(Both girls)

Now, my question is:
Does Everlie Sage sound too different from Genevieve Marie? Marie is a family name, so that holds a special meaning and I've always loved Genevieve and it's French, and so am I. It also can have multiple nicknames, which I love. And Everlie Sage fits my personality so much. The women in my family have a tradition of having 'ie' at the end of their names...I'm Danie...my grandmother is Rosie....My cousin is Mickie, and so on. So, that says a lot for me. And Sage, it's just a beautiful name to me. And I love the nature-like feel to it...

So, back to my question. Are they too different?

Thanks bunches!
And I'll be asking more questions in Baby Names so watch out! LOL

Stay at home moms only...describe your day. Mine starts around 6:30 when my eighteen month old wakes up. I feed her breakfast and then we play, read books, and watch Blue's Clues most days. She naps around 11 or 12 for about 2 hours. I'll do housework, eat lunch, watch some tv or relax somehow. Then she wakes up and she'll eat lunch. Many days we will run errands after her lunch. Some days we will go for a walk to the park. Depending on the weather, we might play in the backyard for a little while. Then she'll watch an educational show while I make dinner. We'll eat and then play and read books. Bathtime is usually around 6. Then we'll play and listen to music. My daughter goes to bed at 7. Then I do more housework and relax around 8 or 9. If my husband is off we'll hang out with him all day. It's a tiring day but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Well, maybe an occasional day at the spa! LOL

I'm interested in becoming a gestational surrogate. Right now I'm in college and know that I don't want any children of my own. However, I feel like I would be a wonderful gestational surrogate for a family that can not carry their own child. Many of the sites I've been doing research on mention that in order to be considered as a gestational surrogate, you must have a child of your own. The baby wouldn't have any of my DNA so I feel like I wouldn't be attached to the point that I couldn't give the child to the Intended Parents.

Does it matter if it is done through an agency or if it arranged privately?

If anyone has additional information about the process, I would appreciate a link to those sites as well.

Blessings to all!
