I'm a SAHM. Both my girls (4 yr old and 6 month old) were up LOTS last night (nightmares for the big girl and lots of eating for the baby), and now they're napping. And I'm doing nothing. I've been nothing for over an hour. There's laundry that needs to be folded and other chores I could do, but I have no motivation. I know I'll regret not getting it done as soon as they wake up. Please tell me other moms take "do nothing time" once in awhile? I'm feeling like such a sloth. LOL

I am 19 years old and i do not work. My baby is due on the 29th of november, I have just finished my last year of college and i intend to go to university in september 2008.
I have never claimed benifits before because i lived with my wealthy parents up untill recently. My first son is a rape baby so i do not know who his father is. A Few days after my partner found out i was pregnant this time he left me. I have much bigger things to worry about than him so i told him to shove it and leave me alone.

I have this friend who worries me a bit about the way she puts her 7-month-old baby to bed. She is staying with me for a few days, so I've had the privelege of witnessing this many times now. She bundles the baby into a large throw-type blanket (not a baby blanket, and when I say "bundles" I mean that she puts the blanket completely over the baby's head) and lays her down to sleep on her stomach. Today I peeked in on the baby while she was sleeping, and all that was sticking out was the baby's little feet; her head was completely covered by the blanket (and she was sleeping on her tummy). Am I completely nuts, or is this a MAJOR accident waiting to happen? I have two kids myself and this seems to go against everything I've heard! I asked my friend if she was afraid the baby might suffocate, but she said she thought she could get out if need be. How can I tell her that this is not a good idea?

I just found out that I am pregnant again, I think about a month, (according to 2 home tests), and I am worried that this could happen again. My daughter weighed only 2 pounds and now has many disabilities. Does anyone know what my chances are, and although I have looked it up, are there any extra things I can do to help prevent it?

My 4 year old has started daycare for the first time in his life. He screams and cries when we leave in the morning and the teachers say he stands around crying most of the day, won't eat or nap?! I am wondering how long it takes them to get used to a new place. He was with his grandma all his life so I knew it would be hard but not this bad. Is this good for him to be so upset or should I pull him out and find homecare???

I love my friend dearly, but I can't say the same for her 3-and-a-half-year-old son who is almost constantly hitting, pushing, kicking or just plain being mean to my boys, one of whom is the same age as him and the other who is 18 months. It seems strange to me because although sometimes my kids will instigate his violence, usually it's just random, like they'll be sitting on the couch together watching a movie and after 15 minutes of complete quiet, her son will turn to my son and hit him! Just out of nowhere. He also picks on my 18-month-old randomly by ramming toy vehicles into his legs, taking toys away, etc. Of course, my friend is trying to get him to stop by giving him "time outs" and telling him to "be nice", but today my 3-year-old wound up with welts on his face & a bloody lip from her son's onslaughts! I'm just tired of this behavior towards my kids, not to mention that I don't want them to pick it up! How do I tell her this without offending her?

My 12.5 year old can become very paranoid at times. If she sees so much as a black cloud in the sky she will sit in front of the weather channel for hours giving updates on the weather every 5 minutes. Or if we have to go somewhere, she will incessantly watch the clock and start to freak out if we are so much as 10 seconds late going out the door. She also will start asking what we are going to eat hours in advance of meal times and If I don't know for sure what we're having she almost has a tantrum because she thinks she won't get to eat. These are just a few examples of things she does. It drives me nuts when she does these things and I have never given her any reason to be afraid of these things. She also has ADHD and I'm not sure if these things are a part of it or if they may be a separate condition, but I'm just not sure how to handle her when she gets like this. I've tried ignoring her but that seems to make it worse. Any suggestions or experience would be appreciated.

Asked just for fun. I have twins, almost 3 yrs., and one likes to hide stuff. I have about 6 hair scrunchies (yes, I still live in 1983) those stretchy, bunchy hair ponytail holders. He had them like two days ago and likes to wear them on one arm. They have since disappeared. He also does not know where they are, or doesn't remember. I have looked through the trash, although he doesn't normally throw things away. Anyway, if you were my scrunchies, where would you be?

I currently watch a boy who will be 3 in december. He doesn't know any colors, numbers, or letters. He can't count or sing the alphabet. He only talks in two word sentences. He doesnt undertsand that much. Simple instruction like "push in the chair" he gets confused. My son who is 18mo and he understands more then him. His mom thinks he's really smart and doesnt think there is anything wrong. It's hard to bring it up to her because i don't want her think I'm calling her son stupid, but I do think she should get him evaluated.

My son has been issued an instructional permit. He is well aware of the fact that he is only allowed to drive with me in the seat next to him. Before he got his permit, he was caught taking the car out while I wasn't home. He lost possession of the keys (he would listen to music and work on the car in the driveway) He had other restrictions placed on him. I was just informed by another neighbor that she saw him last week. Driving alone and talking on his cell phone! How do I make him understand how unacceptable this is!

I'd love some good suggestions for mellow, quiet music to keep me calm in the birthing room--but NOT songs that could be potentially depressing or sad. Light classical would be best. Something "new age" would be okay. I would prefer it if you could possibly link to a legal short sample of the song/s too if possible. Thanks!

I've recently found out I was pregnant, and before I found out me and my husband were painting and varnishing a room in our house. After painting i've used paint thinner to get paint off my hands (more than once). I wasn't like sniffing it or anything but I could still smell it. I'm freaking out, because i've read that paint fumes and thinners are not good for pregnant women. I'm so scared my child is going to have something wrong with it, should I have something to worry about, or should I relax??? I'm sooo scared! My husband said I should be fine, because its not like I was sniffing it everyday for like 2 weeks, and he said think about those who smoke and do drugs when pregnant and their kids turn out fine, but i'm so paranoid!!! I am by far the most paranoid person ever, i worry about everything! I don't see my OB until august 22nd because shes so busy! Please help me!
