I'm a SAHM. Both my girls (4 yr old and 6 month old) were up LOTS last night (nightmares for the big girl and lots of eating for the baby), and now they're napping. And I'm doing nothing. I've been nothing for over an hour. There's laundry that needs to be folded and other chores I could do, but I have no motivation. I know I'll regret not getting it done as soon as they wake up. Please tell me other moms take "do nothing time" once in awhile? I'm feeling like such a sloth. LOL

Oh my gosh - give yourself a break sweetie. It's hard work to be a SAHM. You are entitled to veg out every day in fact for a while. Believe me the laundry will still be there when you have the energy to do it.

Taking time for yourself makes you a better, more patient mother. You deserve it. Because I said so.

love, another SAHM

There will always be laundry to do, and other chores to be done. Take advantage of a little quite time take a nap yourself. It's not very often that we take a moment for ourselves. Mom's need some time to relax too, although that is easier said than done. I have to have atleast have 1 hour of do nothing time, or I go into overdrive. It's a chance for me to focus on me, and have a cup of tea, or sit out in the garden. We all need it once in awhile. So sit back and relax.

OF COURSE THEY DO! Everyone does this sometimes. Be realistic. You are tired from not sleeping last night. AND every parent needs a break from parenting periodically. You deserve a break. Instead of feeling guilty, you should ENJOY it! Please relax and remember to enjoy your little ones. The laundry can always wait. And your kids will grow up while you are doing something else if you don't pay attention.
A four year old can start helping you to fold laundry. She won't do it perfectly, but she will get better with time. Don't refold her work. Your closet or drawer does not need to be a work of art.

the first day of my period i have absolutely no energy for a few hours in the morning. luckily my husband works 2nd shift so he watches our 11 month old while i just lay on the couch and try and get more sleep. but since my husband doesn't know how to clean correctly, i always end up get'n my butt into gear after a while and getting things cleaned up around the place. how does an 11 month old make such a mess anyway? I clean every day and quickly after it's a disaster again! lol
everyone deserves a "do nothing time" but for me, the mess always drives me crazy enough quickly to get me back into mommy mode.

oh my god, I LOVE doing nothing, should I ever get the rare chance to actually enjoy it!

I think we will always have that guilt of 'but I *should* be doing....' but I hope every woman has that 'ah, what the hell' attitude now and again.

I must admit, it's usually when I finally get both my girls to nap at the same time I feel wide awake and desperate to be active, but I will often just sit on my butt and do a bit of nothing. Lovely. It's what our tired old bodies need now and again!Enjoy it! - Guilt-free!! :-D

Heck Yeah!!!

Just like they're recovering from last night... so are you! Don't see it as being a sloth or doing nothing time... see it as "recharge mommy time" if mommy's low on batteries, then their whole world goes to the toilet!

Have some ice cream while your at it :)

I frequently take "do nothing time" even though I know I will be complaining later on. My husband tells me not to stress over it too much since I will probably end up taking more time cleaning compared to how fast my kids will have mess again.

Too right I do. Dreadful really to waste the free time, but I still do it! Jobs will get caught up on - just need a bit of me time sometimes to just sit. You aren't alone.

it's cool. everyone needs to do nothing from time to time. you need time for yourself, it's just as important as doing laundry. but maybe you should be taking a nap instead..lol
