If you were to go somewhere like a wedding, party, etc and you brought your young child and the host of the event offered to put the child to bed herself when it got late. would you do that? i think if your child did not care it would be fine.

I work in a truck stop and yesterday I had a very bad experience with a customer. Some old redneck jerk made some very lewd remarks to me, and when I got rude with him, he acted as though he had done nothing wrong and that I should have taken whatever he dished out at me. Unfortunately, this isn't the only time some man has thought that he had the right to sexually harass me. It makes me wonder, though, what kind of mothers these men had. I don't wish to blame everything on the parents, since adults are responsible for their own behavior, regardless of their upbringing. However, it seems to me that as women, mothers in particular would make it a point to try to teach their sons to have respect for women. Apparently, though, this isn't always the case. What gives?

I think the most important part of her statement is how she mentioned he wouldnt stop crying...that's usually what sets a person off to shake a baby.... anyone else have any opinions?

Does anyone know if it is ok to give sedative to a toddler ? I know it sounds horrible, but I want to go back to Japan bacause my grandfather died last year and I could not go to his funaral because I was pregnant with the second boy and the first one is ADD. They honor the death in the end of August. I want to go back when my family gets together so I can have some kind of closure. I would love to go by myself, but it is not possible. I need to take my kids. I am pregnant with the third one right now. I was wondering if anyone has given their kids sedatives so that they can sleep on the plane or at least they are not as active. Maybe I should ask our doctor, but it sounds horrible when a mother asks for sedative bacause she can not manage her own child, dont you think ? Well, my boy is a tough one. How tough, when we went on a trip three years ago, everyone on the plane cheered when my boy finally fell asleep after he ran around and taking stuff and pushing stuff.

Hi all,

I've been a pest on these boards for days now. And I just wanted to share that I'm cautiously optimistic about my chances this month, as my period is due today or tomorrow and there's no sign of it yet. Of course, I could get it anytime. But I'm pretty happy that I didn't wake up with it this morning, as is usually the case. Still have sore boobes, but not much else.

Keep blowing me baby dust and hope this time is a GO! I'll keep you posted.

I'm 38.5 weeks today. Yesterday I had an appointment with my doctor and while I know I should have asked her this question maybe some one had this happen to them or might now.

So 3 Mondays (6/11) I was 1 cm dialated 50% effaced baby "up there"
Last Monday (6/18) I was 1cm 80% effaced baby at -1 station
This Monday (6/25)I was 1 cm 50% effaced baby at -2station.

Is it possible to almost backtrack on the pregnancy?? It was the same doctor so I don't know think they're should be that big of a difference could there??

Is the doctor a twit or am I'm just being ignorant to think she doesnt know what she is talking about? I'm just mad because I want this part over.

I am having the weirdest pregnancy - I've suffered through kidney stones for the whole thing and am now 36.5 weeks pregnant. I've been losing my mucus plug over the past 2 weeks. Started out clear and now is pink tinged. Past 2 days I feel like I constantly need to have a bowel movement (sorry, tmi) and have menstrual cramping, lots of low back pain/stiffness with a lot of pressure when walking. Has anyone had this and gone into labor early? Or am I looking at 4 more weeks of feeling this way. I wouldn't mind going the 40 weeks if it didn't feel like this!! My other two pregnancies I didn't feel like this until the last week....

I've heard if you drink orange juice before the ultrasound, the baby will be more active and move more so hopefully you can see his or hers bit and pieces lol.

Sometimes when I drink it anyhow, when I lye down I feel like I can feel it moving.

I'll be 19weeks tomorrow :)

she is 10 yrs old and is twice the size of what she should be. He has her every other wkend and feeds her rubbish along with mansized meals, when i say something im told to keep out if it. Is this fair? Im only looking out for the wellbeing of this child and dont want her to turn into an overweight teenager. Iv suggested that he speaks to the childs mother about what kind or food is she feeding her but he refuses too. Its frustrating to sit and watch her eat like a horse and not have a say in it all.We never speak about it in front of her. What do i do?

I recently read in one of my pregnancy books that you can't wear contact lenses during labor and delivery, does anyone know if this is true? If so, why? I have horrible vision without my lenses in, and I don't like to wear my glasses, I don't feel like I "see" as well in them...Thanks!

I am due for my period on Sat. June 30. Cycle length usually about 30 days. Feeling nausea, moody, lower back pain, headaches and dizziness. But today I have had a CLEAR jelly-like discharge on my undies (ALOT) and pain in my belly (around my belly button area and above), though they are not cramps. What do you think. Thank You. Melissa.

A friend of mine told me that lots of people have been studynig morning sickness and the use of marijuana. I researched deeply into this and found that there were no proven harms as of yet, but the effects were thought to be somewhat like smoking during pregnancy, which I have drastically cut down on, but can't seem to kick it, (very embarrasing to me). I found that marijuana was the only thing that would subside my nausea, and let me eat something. I'm worried now that this has subsided that it willl have effects on our baby (physical). I guess what I am looking for is some moral support from other mothers who have experienced this.
Thanks.

I've had two lately.
The first was when we went up to my brother's house. We got the kids out of the car and were unloading the stuff, and I couldn't find the diaper bag. We were over an hour from home, so big problem. Well, we went in the house, and I was all freaking out, then I dropped what I was carrying and found the diaper bag on my shoulder. Duh!
Then this weekend we were at a friend's house for dinner. One of the other kids dropped her plate on the floor. She made the comment, "Well at least I didn't drop it on the baby." Suddenly I started looking around frantically for the baby and couldn't find him anywhere. Then I looked down, and he's in my arms drinking his bottle. Double duh!!
