A friend of mine told me that lots of people have been studynig morning sickness and the use of marijuana. I researched deeply into this and found that there were no proven harms as of yet, but the effects were thought to be somewhat like smoking during pregnancy, which I have drastically cut down on, but can't seem to kick it, (very embarrasing to me). I found that marijuana was the only thing that would subside my nausea, and let me eat something. I'm worried now that this has subsided that it willl have effects on our baby (physical). I guess what I am looking for is some moral support from other mothers who have experienced this.
Thanks.

Alot of old Hippy midwives used pot for many things...and babies all turned out fine...limit yourself and be very careful who your source is..pot is not the same as it was in the 60's and 70's..people add stuff to it now that can really harm your baby!!!!! Yeah, morning sickness is part of pregnancy, you will live through it...my advise is to be HONEST with your doctor, and let him or her know that you have an addiction..it can make a difference if you request pain meds during delivery.. your baby wont have 3 arms from smoking, but it DOES decrease the oxygen to the baby and blood supply as well..quit now while you are ahead...best to you

So let me get this straight....in order to help subside the nausea from your pregnancy you smoked marijuana...makes perfect sense to me...

NOT!

Morning sickness is a normal part during a pregnancy, and if there were something wrong with your weight gain or your baby the doctor would have told you to eat more. You shouldn't have went out and found a rememdy on your own especially smoking marijuana.

Babies that are born to a mother that smoked marijuana has the risk of being born with a low birth weight, and may be born prematurely. After the birth they may cry more and experience tremors.

Next time when searching for a "home" remedy try to find something safer.

I know how debilitating morning sickness can be so I understand why you tried and used the marijuana since it helped. But it is never good for a pregnant woman to "self medicate" without a doctors advice, especially when you are talking about drugs.

There are a lot of studies that show weed increases the chance of birth defects, premature birth and problems with labor and delivery. However, it all depends on how much you were smoking since marijuana can be used relatively safely in small amounts for therepeutic purposes.

You didn't say how much you were smoking and that makes a HUGE difference.

However, it is good that you quit before 4 months gestation. Smoking weed until the end of pregnancy can not only cause the problems above, but also baby will have withdrawal symptoms after birth and possible neurological delays.

All the best to you and baby!

I had morning sickess 24/7 for the first 3,5 months so I understand why you feel so miserable. Nontheless, I don't think marihuana use is right, even though it helps you with your problem you are poisoning the oxigen your baby takes from you, plus, babies born of marihuana somoking mothers can have low weight at birth as well as malformations. If you just been using it in small amounts you probably didn't hurt your baby significantly, but please don't do it anymore. As a mom you are going to deal with lots of stuff you won't like, but you no longer can put yourself before the well being of your baby. It's all just a part of being a mom, all we can do is deal with it.

Stop thinking of yourself and stop smoking marijuana. You can stop if you know what is right. Every hit you take off that joint, is another hit you are giving your baby. You wouldn't put a joint up to a week old baby's mouth would you??
