This is just a question to attract attention to the matter. I've recently found out I am pregnant, and shocked as I was, I rushed to the doctor. Had a test done and it said I was 6 to 7 weeks gone. Fair enough, were it not that 7 weeks prior to that test, I was going out with someone different, who not soon after broke up with me. I had asked the doctor to give me a specific date of conception because this is obviously very important for me to find out who exactly the father is. She assured me it would be from conception.
So the next day she phoned me with the news. I nearly went to tell my ex he was going to be a father until I did some further research on hCG levels and such. I calculated backwards as much as I could to figure out for myself how far gone I was. Turns out the father is someone completely different.
Now, why can't they just calculate from the conception date on? And WHY do doctors feel the need to add another 2 weeks to the date, apart from it being the last period
