There are three spots that *may* cause contractions - of course, nothing is guaranteed and you should always get your OB or midwife's go-ahead before trying any methods of natural induction.
One spot is on the inside of your calf - place your hand with your little finger just above your ankle, and the spot you're looking for is about where your thumb will be resting - inside middle of your calf. Requires pretty firm pressure.
The second spot is the web of skin between your thumb and forefinger - you won't feel much when you squeeze here, so squeeze hard and massage a bit.
The third is the roof of your mouth. Grab a round lollipop (DumDums or larger are great) or - silly as it sounds - just suck your thumb. Your thumb would probably work best as you can create a more constant pressure.
There's no set time limit for trying these - just press/massage until you feel something happening. If nothing happens, rest and try it again in an hour or so. And be aware that contractions could come on and then stop, or could come on quickly and strongly. Be prepared either way, for nothing at all to happen, or to get to the hospital or birthing center in a hurry.
While you're trying to induce labor naturally, don't forget about nipple stimulation...
Good luck to you, and congrats on the new baby!!

There is one on your ankle and one on your wrist. You press it with two fingers and hold it for a min. or two. You can feel your heart beat in those places, that is how you know.
Anyway, it doesn't work - I tried it for weeks with my third. Nothing except the readiness of the baby or your Dr. willing to induce.
That is what my Dr. did with my third - she was afraid he was getting too big because my second was 8lbs 12 oz. so she induced me 3 weeks early. I got lucky. It is safe because the only thing they do the last few weeks is gain weight and he was 6lb 8oz when he was born - can you imagine a Pound a week more for the last three weeks - not me!
Good Luck

of course, i would recommend waiting it out, but if you're dying to know, all around the ankle where that little valley is, are some pressure points. you press long and hard there, also up along the calf i think the outer calf - same thing - long and hard. but just wait! that baby needs to cook fully! :)

no, but my best friend did, it worked! I was amazed. I am 28 weeks pregnant and thinking about using it as well.
i think it probably depends on the person, but it worth the try.
the did it in her hand her lower leg and her foot. seemed to move things right along!

Don't know about acupressure, but a "vigorous" exam by my doctor followed by sex with my husband did the trick! :)
