I don't drink, but I know that a "tom collins" is a cocktail. How common is it? How much would my son get teased for sharing his name with an alchoholic drink?

your son will ABSOLUTELY get teased. it's a very common drink. don't do it to him!! congrats on the baby though!

Most kids are not going to know what a Tom Collins is. You also have the option of calling him Thomas instead of Tom.

who would tease your son? The alcoholic 1st graders?? I don't think so.. I like the name Thomas, but if you believe that the name can affect the personality, then maybe rethink the first name and just have the middle name be Thomas..

It is totally up to you, kids may tease him but you know what if it isn't about his name it will be something else. Kids are cruel these days. If you really like the name Thomas go with it.

It's a nice name if you call him Thomas and not Tom or Tommy
My son's name is David. Anyone who calls him Dave or Davey is corrected.

Maybe make it the middle name. If you are pro-Irish you could name him Michael Thomas Collins (Michael Collins -irish hero)

Don't do it. If you love the name, use it as a middle name and come up with something else. Kids have enough to deal with without their parents setting them up for disaster with a poor name choice.

Don't think theres a name out there, or a combination of names that can't be made fun of.
Everyone goes through it. Go for it.....
Teach your son to own his name...and he'll do just fine...
