If baby is hungry, baby will wake up. Breastfed babies need to feed more then formula babies on average.

My answer depends a lot on how old your baby is. Give us more details about what is going on, how often baby wakes, if he goes back to sleep with nursing, if he is exclusively breastfed, etc.
