My partner wants to call our daughter Edam after the town in the Netherlands. I think it is silly because the name is also used for a cheese.
I want to call the child Bazalgette after Sir Joseph Bazalgette the engineer who helped save London from Cholera epidemics in the nineteenth century. My partener likes Bazalgette but still wants to call our daughter Edam.
I don't want to give the child two first names. Especially because Bazalgette is hard to spell.
So should I give in and name the baby Edam or just call her Bazalgette anyway?

on November 20, 2006, my grandfather past away and my daughter has been asking to see him. I have already told her that he is in heaven with God and Jesus. We cannot see him but we can talk to him and he is watching over us. For the past year and a half we went to the nursing home every weekend to see him.

I am 18 weeks pregnant and dont usually get any pains in my tummy or abdomen, but today I am in pain, u feel as though I have been punched in the stomach. I feel really winded and my breath keeps being taken. its not continuesly sore, it comes and goes and I do have a way of overeacting.

I feel as tho i need to lie on my tummy, but it is sharp pains

We have a 12 year old boy who just don't care. We have grounded him, rewarded him, ignored him, and I have run out of ideas. He just does not do his homework and tends to not participate in class. I constantly email his teachers and they always email me telling me he is missing work. Help! I am at my wits end with him. And when he is at home all he does is argue with me. Which is causing fights between my husband and I . He also has 2 younger siblings. I treally do not want them to watch everything that is happening in our house right now!
HELP!

Hi I'm 18 weeks pregnant I had to visit a specialist in maternal and fetal medicine yesterday they said I had Antiphosphilipid Syndrome and I have to give myself 2 shots per day I am terrified I hate needles but I have no choice I know it's for the health of my baby so has anyone here ever have to go through a similar situation and was it hard for you to actually put a needle into your own stomach?

I guess I didn't fall that hard. I didn't even know I was falling until I was on the ground. I went to put my suitcase in the car and slipped. I slid down and fell right on my hip. I already called the doctor and they said that at 13 weeks there isn't much they can do. They told me to just monitor for bleeding and call if there is a problem. Instinct tells me everything is probably fine but this is my first pregnancy and of course I worry about everything. I hope the baby wasn't affected by my fall. Should I be worried????

I'm 13 and still haven't had any signs of puberty. I am tired of being treated like a little kid. Is there anyway i can speed things up? My junk is about the same size as my 7 year old brother. I have a doctors appointment after school today to get a checkup and might talk to him. I'm 4 ft 9 and weigh about 90 lbs.

My son is starting to refuse his baby food and cereal because he knows at the end of the meal he gets the Gerber Puffs and toast, which he wants. Neither is very nutritious, but he is very eager to eat them. (BTW - those puffs have 25 calories per 80 puffs!!! A great training food maybe, but no calories for a little one who maybe gets 15 in the mouth!!) What are some other foods that he can use his fingers on that are more nutritious? I am particuarly interested in protein sources considering he doesn't take much breastmilk/formula these days either. THANKS GUYS!!

The first half of the day that I get my period is almost as heavy as after I went through labor. Does it lighten up after a few months? Do your periods ever return back to the way they used to be?

Hi everyone I have a little boy who will be 3 in March and just recently he seems to have become scared of everything. He is scared ofcartoons, santa, christmas lights, shops, loud noises, the bath, playgroup he has even become scared of some of his toys. I had a baby 5 months ago, but these problems have only just developed and he does not seem to be jealous but seems really loving towards his little sister, do you think this is just a phase and any ideas how to help him?

i have a 3 yr old and have up until this xmas, been debating over whether it is right to be lying to my child by teaching him about santa. i want him to have the magical experience of xmas that children love, but find i have to almost physically force myself to talk about it with him. it saddens me to see his all trusting face as i talk to him aobut it all.

The doctor is worried that she hasn't dropped that maybe my pelvic opening is too small for a baby, she is only weighing 7lbs on the ultrasound I just had done. So the doctor said she's not big by any means. Is it still possible for the baby to drop once labor begins? They are going to induce me on Tuesday if she doesn't come on her own before then. I'm at a -2 station and been there for a while but she's not going any lower. Help please?!

Is it acceptable to have a child through IVF where eggs are fertilised to create embryos before implantation into the womb?

Is it acceptable to test embryos for genetic diseases before choosing which to implant through IVF?

Is it acceptable to test embryos to see if they are a compatible donor with an existing sibling requiring a matching donor before choosing which to implant through IVF?

Is it acceptable to test embryos to see if they will be a boy or a girl before choosing which to implant through IVF?

Is it acceptable to test embryos for desirable traits such as athletic ability or hair colour before choosing which to implant through IVF?

If it were possible, would it be acceptable to 'design' a baby by changing part of the genetic code of an embryo before implantation through IVF for health reasons? And for aesthetic reasons such as eye/hair colour?

I keep myself clean and well groomed, but the last week I've noticed a changed in the way my urine smells. It seems to be stronger. Could that be a symptom of being pregnant? I've also been irritable. I start out having a great day and by the end of the day I feel like it's been the worst day ever. No morning sickness though. I have had really sore nipples for about a week. I took a pregnancy test about a week and a half ago, but it came up negative. If I were, I figured it was too early to tell. Not feeling stressed at all. Any ideas?

Hi, girls. I am on the 40th day of my cycle now. Normally I have 28-32 days cycle. Yet, last month it was a week delay due to stress at work. This month there was no stress at all. But I am at least 8, or for the max. 12 days late. On Wednesday (it was day 38) I took e.p.t. test and it showed negative. But still no period and lots of symptoms like morning sickness (that usually takes place in the morning and closer to night), heavy breasts, sensitive nipples, some food craving (for salty and meat things), tiredness and feel sleepy. So, the question is-- has anyone of you really been in the situation that with so many days delay you got negative by urine test and later on you turned out to be pregnant? Thanks fopr your answers.
P.S. I have never been on the pills or something like this.

one morning my 3 year old ask me for a taste of my coffee (which was mainly milk) and I gave him some...to make a long story short, he drinks coffee now (because of the taste); he screams if I don't give him coffee every morning. I only give him about 4 oz and I make it "weak", is that bad? I have already tried those "taste-like-coffee"-mixes where you mix with milk and suppose to have the "coffee" flavor, but that doesn't work..I want to stop giving him coffee, what should I do?
