I was wondering if this is a State by state thing or is it a new Standard across the country?. I don't mind it cause my son got E's across the board on his first report (not bragging just saying)
But I just wonder how the kindergarten programs vary. We live in Texas

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on this. It's a law that children should wear a seatbelt, yet there are so many school buses transporting our children without them. Do you think anything will ever be done about this??

This is my second baby. I'm only 4 weeks along, but just like with my daughter, I am SO tired. I just want to sleep. My daughter is 8.5 months old and is full of energy. She only takes 1/2 hour naps. By the time I get her down and lay down myself, I don't have time to actually fall asleep. We don't have any family near by to watch her for a bit and I am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks!

I don't feel comfortable with my son staying over at my mother in laws house, because she doesn't have a smoke detector. I understand why she doesn't use one, because she has a wood stove, but I just don't feel safe. My husbands thinks that it is ok. My mother in law also doesn't have any electricity and no running water in the house. She uses a gas range and a generator also. I feel its to danerous for my son to stay there. What do you guys think?

My child's kindergarden teacher singles him out in front of the classroom. Points her finger in his face telling him he needs to be more responsible, and participate in group activities. She is so intense and aggressive he just shuts down. Should I tell the teacher off, and of the many ways she is not showing any positive reinforcement, and move him to a new classroom or let her be a drill sargent?

I am currently 17 weeks pregnant... My Nurse Midwife told me that I had a "high BP" this appt. However, the other nurse told me it was ok. I went to our local walmart right after and it was 126/80. She also told me that I had a small amt of excess protein in my urine. I know she told me that I was too early to even think of preclampsia... but any thoughts out there. How can I lower my BP? I know she also said that she may need to put me on a bp pill--- but I would rather do it natural as I have read that it can harm the baby. Please help! Thanks so MUCH!!

She's turning 7 and she's made a good friend at school who invited her to her birthday. He's not letting her go because he fears sexual preditors. I've suggested meeting the parents of the kids she's becoming friends with and his excuse is that sexual preditors slip through the cracks. Neither of these parents are knowen preditors. I totally see his point of view and understand he wants to keep his daughter safe. But I also worry about her development and if she' not allowed to do anything without the watchful eyes of her dad or her brother. I have so many great memories of sleepovers and birthdays when I was a kid/teenager and I think every girl should experince those. With sleepovers, I suggested, she can have one at home and he said he didn't want a bunch of kids running around his place. I don't think he's being fair. I told him that when she gets older she could rebel and go behind his back because she's not allowed to do anything. Any tips on getting him to see my point

Do you mind if strangers in the supermarket and/or street touch your newborn's face or hands? If they were to kiss your child on the cheek? Does it matter how old they are, say younger than 6 mths or older than that? If it does bother you, what do you typically do about this?

Just curious to see how others feel!

We have tried letting him cry it out and he goes for at least 1 1/2 hours screaming. We have tried bribing him. We have tried gradual steps - starting with pallet on the floor in our room. He has a brother in the same room. He can see us from his bed (our door is open). We have tried classical music. Any ideas?
