Pregnancy & Parenting - 16 October 2006

I was told by WIC that I should stop breastfeeding because it causes contractions and could make me go into labor. When I got home I called Leleeche (think thats spelled right) League and they said that it doesn't cause any more contractions than if you were having intercourse so unless your doctor has advised you not to have intercourse you should be fine. I just want to know if anyone else has breastfed while pregnant, or if anyone had any complications with it? Thanks so much!~

I saw the child harnesses and I have a six month old and my son runs away from me all the time even when I tell him to stay with me in a firm tone. Should I get a child harness, I have a double stroller and I want my son to walk when we are out to get more exercised.

I have been looking everywhere for cribs. But all the reviews say that they dent and scatch easy. All the solid wood cribs i have found are like $1000 dollars and up, and we are not looking to spend more that $300 or so dollars. would it be too much of a hassel to build our own or do you have any suggestions??? or websites to check out?

for two nights I will wake up with my stomach hurting really bad it feels like aching,cramping,like my stomach is raw on the inside and my back hurts to. A couple of months ago I thought that I was pregnant and kind of still think that I am but have had my periods an negative test.

I am sooo emotional. I cry over everything. My friend killed a spider and I cried because I felt bad. Everytime I leave the doctor I cry because things don't seem to be going anywhere. Any ideas to help get my mind off of things?

ok. ik i have been postin alot of theses things. but im rly scard and idk who else 2 tlk 2. and i am on the pill i have been fer probly half a year mb. and then condom broke and ppl keep tellin me oo take a test and scarin me even more. i am only 16. i dont wanna be a mother yet.so i need ppls help that actually know stuff or mb even been throught it. i am goin 2 take a test on halloween bc my period is the next day. or should i take 1 sooner?? please help!

My husband and I are very religious, we recently found out we are having a boy and are very excited. I had told my husband he could pick the name, he came home with Jeramiah which means raised by God and I was ok with it, BUT he wants the middle name to be "Ariel" and it means Lion of God. Ariel is a unisex name, much like Tracy and Dawn(Don) which happens to be my name but Ariel sounds like a girl. My husband is set on this and will not change his mind. While I know it is my child too, I don't want to spoil this for him, what should I do? I can live with it but I really don't like it.

I was just curious as to what amount my 6 week old should be drinking at each feeding. I have been pumping 4 0z. bottles, but sometimes he only wants about 2 oz. and sometimes he wants more. I feed him about every 2-3 hours. When will he need more milk and rest better at night? Thanks, Millie

Yes, I made the mistake in the beginning of letting him have the TV on all day. Most days it's just background noise. If me or my husband even comes near the remote, he screams and cries b/c he doesn't want us to turn his shows off. I've recently decided enough is enough and I want to limit how much he watches. I've tried turning the TV off altogether during the day to make more time for play and such, but I still get fits. Is this something that will pass in time, or did I lay the ground rules too late?

My 2 1/2 year old won't use the potty. She will sit on it and wipe and flush but won't pee in it unless we make her sit there forever. When we make a big deal and get all excited when she does pee she smiles, but still won't use the potty on her on. We have used the cool and wet liner pull ups and the vinyl panties with cotton liners to help her learn what it feels like when she is wet, but she does'nt seem to care if she is wet. Any suggestions?

I am a Childcare Provider and I own a daycare in my home. I have this one parent that brings her children to my home filthy; I have good reason to believe that the personal hygeine of the female children are being neglected to the point of infection! The children are always sick and I literally have to threatened child protective services on her before she takes them to the docter and thats sad! I want to give my parents a chance but, this girl has 4 kids! You think she would know by now! I need some insight from some of you please. Thank you in advance!

HI, I'm 7.5 weeks pregnant (at least - I will find out for sure on Wed when I have a scan), and the last few days the tiredness has gotten out of control I fell asleep at work twice today, but what worrying me more is the dizzy spells I keep having. They mostly happen when I get up from sitting (which I do slowly anyway), I know this can be a sign of aneamia (sp?), but could it be anything else?

I will check with my midwife/doctor on Wednesday too.

I was informed the scan showed up nothing except for a small cyst on my left ovary which was not a problem, this was strange as I usually have pain on the right hand side at that time of the month. I have been ttc since April with no luck. Could I have developed a problem since June last year with my ovaries?

I'm a second time mom and based on the first day of my LMP, I'm now nine weeks and SHOWING! Maybe not to the rest of the world but I'm already having to use the rubberband trick with my jeans! Anyone else experience this? With my first I wasn't worring about this until like 3 or 4 months along......

I am 18 weeks and 2 days. I really felt my baby move yesterday while laying on my back. I felt a little this morning. I sneezed and it hurt really bad, I have not felt any movement since then, why? Surely sneezing didn't hurt anything right?
