Pregnancy & Parenting - 31 August 2006

I am thinking of adopting a child permanently and I live in California. Has anyone done this in this state? What are the requirements and fees involved? Please help

I just left the emergency room for severe back and abdominal pain. They did an ultrasound on me and have sent me for a consult with a specialist at 2:30 est. I heard the technician tell the nurse that ! was probably overdue. I have had no symptoms and have had periods(light ones) all year. I am a big girl and thought I was having gas and normal aches( I am 40) A pelvic was done and no one has discussed anything else with me just that I have to go to a Perinatologist asap. I have no time for jokes, please be serious

Has any woman in here had root beer during your pregnancy and had perfectly healthy, fine babies? I am scared, don't know why but I went to Pizza Hut for lunch today for the buffet and had some root beer to drink. I never thought root beer has alcohol in it, does it ladies? And how about caffeine content? I am 11 weeks prego now and just hope the root beer is not too bad for me or my baby on the way. anyone know?

My boyfriend doesnt' like to hold newborns cause there so small, and he's affraid to drop it. Would that change if it was his own baby? And does it make them grow up a little more when they have a baby.

I was on a baby web site the other day that asked survey questions and one was:

"Do you plan on breastfeeding, formula feeding, or both?"

This may not be too clear to me but aren't you suppose to do ONE? I have never heard of both.

I do have a daughter but she was in NICU for months so I was not able to breastfeed. Is this healthy?

I only have 3 weeks to go and I was wondering if a babies hiccups feels like a steady kind of quick rhythm? Its not like a kick once in a while. Just curious because that feeling is usually up high but its down pretty low now so I thought maybe she is head down and thats why.

Last night and today I have had several sharp pains in my left breast. The pains don't last to long and have only happened a few times. I've never had pain like this. It is only in my left breast not the right one!!

Hubby and I are TTC...
I was wondering if this could be a sign of pregnancy or not?? Has anyone experienced this while TTC or Preg?? (day 26 of my cycle...cycles usually 26-30 days long)

Should I honor my grandmother, who passed away several years ago, by using her middle name MAE? Or should I use my middle name MICHELLE. First name will be LORELEI. I don't know which I would regret not using more! I think it would be nice to remember by grandmother, but I also think it would be nice to pass along a part of myself to my daughter. My 14 month old son is pooping constantly...about 4-8 poops diapers a day when we were used to 1, maybe 2, a day. They are very soft in consistency (sorry), and maybe 1 out of 10 times it'll be obvious diarrhea. He gets horrible diaper rash off and on b/c of this. His pedi said that he either has a persistent intestinal virus or he has this unexplained Todders Diarrhea. She took him off of all dairy and I haven't noticed much of a difference. We're on week 3 of this poop saga. Please, help, if you've experienced this before. Thanks in advance.

My 14week old son keeps sucking his arm and giving himself what look like lovebites up his arm. He's not hungry, we've offered a pacifier which he'll spit out in favour of his arm. We've tried teethers etc, but he'll still suck on his arm! Has anyone else experienced this and anyone got any suggestions??

I had my monthly checkup with my ob/gyn yesterday and i have been having spotting on and off for about 2 weeks and started cramping exactly like period cramps the night before my checkup and have been cramping since. My Dr. checked to see if my cervix was still closed and she said it was fine. But then last night after i got through using the bathroom i started bleeding. I will lightly spot until i use the bathroom and everything will be normal until after i go to wipe and some blood will start dripping like 5-6 drips and theni will wipe blood for a min and it will stop. I called my Dr. last night and she just told me to pretty much stay in bed for the next few days and see if it stops. I am very scared can anyone help me?

The Facts:

My husband and I have been planning on going to his dad’s house for Labor Day.

Our car’s air conditioner hasn’t worked for the past month and a half.

He pretty much controls the whole car situation since he is the only one who drives.

My son is six months and currently has a ear infection.

His father lives about six to seven hours away.

We live in Florida…you know about that kind of heat!

He wants to leave tonight…without the air-conditioner being fixed.

My Opinion: I don’t want to leave until the air conditioner is fixed. I think it is too hot to drive without air-conditioning for six hours…and I think it’s not good for my son’s ear infection to have all the air flowing quickly through the car with the windows down. Am I right to feel this way? Should we go or not?

Know I drank alcohol before I took the test, am I ok? Will NOT drink anymore!
Also, food not agreeing with me... meat makes me ill. What's good to eat that is healthy? Have not been to dr. yet, appt is next week. What should I be doing or not doing? Heard not to lift heavy things... I am already taking prenatal vitamins.

my son can climb out of his crib now so we got him a regular car bed with a twin mattress and he wont stay in there asleep. He will wake up usually within 4 hours of going to sleep and come into our room and even if we let him sleep with us he still whines, any suggestions? We have tried everything i feel like screaming.please help
