Should I honor my grandmother, who passed away several years ago, by using her middle name MAE? Or should I use my middle name MICHELLE. First name will be LORELEI. I don't know which I would regret not using more! I think it would be nice to remember by grandmother, but I also think it would be nice to pass along a part of myself to my daughter. Please help me decide!

I think Lorelei Mae sounds much prettier together, as Lorelei Michelle just is a little too long. But either one you choose is fine. Good luck!!!!!

How about Lorelei Mae as a first name and Michelle as a middle name?

I think you should use Mae. Lorelei Mae sounds better and I think Lorelei Michelle is way to long. You wouldn't regret either middle name. It's ultimately your and your hubbies decision but You have to think your passing on your genes and traits to your daughter so it would be nice to give her another aspect of family history by using your grandmothers name.

I plan on using my middle name if it is a girl, my mother did it with my older sister. I think it's a lovely way for women to get to pass down their name (or at least part of it). I also like the fact that you thought of your grandmother, but I do think Lorelei Michelle sounds better. If you get mixed reviews on here a good way to help you determine a good pick is to act as if you were calling your daughter for dinner, and holler it out and also maybe write it acouple times, it could help your decision just by seeing how they look together. But holler it a couple times, just the first and middle name the first couple of times, and then the full name...Good Luck!

Lorelei Michelle Mae. Has a nice ring to it once you say it a few times and this way both you and your grandmother is honored.

They are all beautiful names. There is no law against giving a child two middle names. I'd name her Lorelei Michelle-Mae. Then there would be no regrets. Best wishes to your family!

We choose our babies names to remember those WE loved, as a way to honor and give tribute to them. What better tribute to your grandmother (your child's great grandmother) than to user her name. Your child will always cherish her great grandmother, even if she has never met her great grandmother, for the sole fact that she has her name. Imagine the fun, when as a graduation gift from high school, or for her Sweet 16th birthday, you can give her a hope chest, and in that hope chest, along with some family quilts and other "passing on to generation after generation" stuff, you were to put a nice little booklet in there with photos of her great grandmother, and an explaination that this is whose middle name she had inherited.

Your child will already have a part of you- your genes, facial features, etc. but this is a good way to ensure that Grandma never gets forgotten.

Good luck and congrats on the baby :-)
