Pregnancy & Parenting - 30 August 2006

I think my almost 9month old son may have an allergy to polyester. The doctor seemed sure it was a virus rash, it went away a few days later and I put him in the same shirt (washed) yesterday and rash seemed to reappear, along with quite a bit of fussiness, understandably. Anyone know anyone who has this allergy? Will he grow out of it?? How severe is this allergy? Should I just count on my conclusion or take him to the doctor again? I really dont want to be one of those moms who sees the doctor for every little thing, maybe I should just mention it at his check up? THanks for any helpful answers!

Do you think it is fair on someone if she finds out she is pregnant and want to keep the baby, but her husband/fiance/boyfriend says he will leave her if she keeps it? What if the man was leaving because he didn't want kids yet, or the couple weren't finanically ready (even though their parents would help out)? Is the man not taking responsibility is the child is definitely his?

I'm just 18 years old and I'm 17wks preg. All my family gives me all the support, even my boyfriend he loves me and the baby with all his heart. But I'm always feeling worried and nervous on certain things that I know I shouldn't have. Ex last week I was obsessed that I have hiv! I know that I'm not a slut and I just had 2 other relationships in the past. I just keep worrying on all the things about my baby.. being sensitive for nothing.. crying for nothing. Am I freaking out? Or I guess these are just hormonal changes and stress! I thought of taking the hiv test so I wouldn't keep on stressing about it.

If you have got pregnant on the pill which obviously some of you have its meant that you must have ovulated during the time you took it. If this is the case then in the past when you have been taking it and possibly ovulated but not happened to have sex have you had a period whilst on it? If you are confused by this question pleae refer to my last one "on the pill"

My daughter is 2 years old and still sucks her thumb, constantly. I would appreciate some ideas on how to get her to stop. I try not to make a big deal out of it, because if she knows its bothering us, well she is just going to want it more lol. We've tried putting vinegar on her finger, a bandage on her finger and then we've tried to just redirect her to doing soemthing else with her hands. The only thing that worked was a few months ago she got a cut on her thumbsucking thumb and stopped sucking for about a week till the cut healed. Obviously I'm not going to cut her thumb again but I'm all ears for suggestions.

It was about three times that I was about to throw up but it with back down and i don't know why is that telling me that i meant be pregnant plus I got to see if i get my period this month. Im on the pill and take it slightly differently from most people whereby i take 3 packs in a row and then take a 7 day break. I have read that its still possible to get pregnant if you are on the pill - does that apply to me though because i have just read the following on a website:-

"For a definite confirmation that you're pregnant, the implanted embryo has to be generating sufficient quantities of hCG for it to be detected by a pregnancy test. Whilst this is generally likely to be the around the day your period is due, a new study found that in up to 10% of pregnancies, the embryo was not implanted by that stage and therefore a negative Home Pregnancy Test (HPT) result was given"

which would mean i have to wait another 6 weeks before the embryo attaches itself - surely it would die or something by then? I sound really thick - but a) im not a doctor and b) biology was my strongest subject at school.

Has anyone else noticed how kids dont seem to act like kids anymore, they are dressed in clothes that u would expect an adult to wear, and you hardly see them out with their dolls and prams now a days when i was a kid (which wasnt too long ago im only 22) on xmas morn we would be out playing on our new bikes or dolls and prams, now a days its all computer games and make up. i was taking my young cousin to school the other day and half the girls in her class had the short skirts n knee high socks, (she is only 7) and dont get me started on the older kids with the make up plastered on looking about 17 when they are only 12, why would mothers let their children out like that,

Our daughter has started college and is evoking her adult privliges with us, wanting to stay untill two or three in the morning. She then calls off work and is short of cash to meet her few financial obligations. We do not want to "kick her out", as she has nowhere to stay, but do not seem to see any other solution.

i no this is a stupid question to ask but when im about to come on my period i have a little brown discharge for about 2 days and then i start to bleed. but its now 30th and no blood! i have had brown discharge since 26th....i have a little cramping and period like feeling but i havnt got my period yet. i dont want to take a test cause im getting my hopes up about being pregnant. what do u think i should do? should i take a test and be crushed if its neg or wait and see if my period comes?

My 5 month old is only breastfed. She has two tiny teeth and they are sharp. She bit me today and I thought I was going to cry. I breastfed before and did not have this problem. She will not take a bottle or a cup and I enjoy nursing- not the biting. Any suggestions? Thanks!

why do so many mothers feed their children up on calpol to make em sleep, im fed up to the back teeth hearing mothers sayin "js give em calpol that will knock em out" im only 22 had my baby 10weeks ago and the thought of feeding her up on calpol turns my stomach, shes a baby of course she gonna cry, its pack and parcel of having a child. does anyone else agree with me here?

She can repeat 95% of what you say to her perfectly,but when it comes to her speaking on her own,it's very garbled.We've spoken to her doctor more than once and they always tell us to not worry and give her time. I'm taking her back to the doctor nxt week,but I want the opinions of others also.
