I'm right with you on this one. I'm nine week is and have just about sorted out the right formular for me to stop feeling like I am travel sick all the time.
- Always keep some food in your stomach - anything you can take like toast/cereal/plain biscuits.bananas. If you eat a little of something every two hours, even if you don't feel like it, you will feel better.
- Menthol inhaler ( put it near your nose and sniff) whcih takes the edge off ( Vics)
- Sipping bitter lemon or coke
- I read about a cd called ' Morningwell' on the net ( it is endorced by the UK national helath service) which is used for travel sickness and uses frequencies to even out inbalances in your ears which apparently are linked to the nausia. Not sure if it is just a placebo but it does seem to work and also takes your mind off it! Google it and your should find it.
- I have a banana and a glass of milk before I go to bed which reduces the nausia in the morning.
- Lastly just avoid food which make it worse ( for me any meat/anything spicy or fatty and also green vegetable) . My midwife said it is best just to eat what you fancy even if only toast for the weeks the nausia will last.

I sympathise though - it takes the shine off being pregnant feeling so awful and nothing really prepares you for it day after day.

During all my pregnancies 3 I had a thing called Hypermisis gravid-um(very bad morning sickness) and I needed hospital treatment with 2 pregnancies. What I recommend based on the normal pregnancy that I had is ginger anything ginger, sips of drinks, bland drinks, bland foods, eat little and often as this does work even it is only a mouthful. Don't get stressed either as this makes it worse. Remember morning sickness does normally start to go about 4 months and then eat anything and everything well that's what i did and my babies were huge. NEVER AGAIN THOUGH

As a mum of 3, I really can sympathise. Morning sickness, especially with my 3rd child (girl) lasted the whole 9 months and I can honestly say that the misery of morning sickness (which lasted all day) was much worse than the birth itself!!

Ginger is really awful when it comes up again - I much prefer wee bit of toast and jam.

If you are going to be sick then you are going to be sick - I also went off tea and coffee - big style! I would love my cup of tea in the morning and just could not face it!

ITS NOT FAIR!! I lived on porridge and mashed potatoes.

Im 25 weeks pregnant, so I understand what your going through. I used to take Vitamin B6 a couple of hours after I got going in the morning and that seemed to help. I think we get all the sickness from all the new hormones that are developing. Eat crackers or friut. That used to help me. Salads and plain sandwiches were tolerable for me to snack on because I was so sick. Ask your doctor before you take the vitamins!

If it is because you are pregnant, i wouldn't take anything without consulting your doctor or pharmacist first as in the first trimester of pregnancy this a very important time for you and the developing baby. Drink plenty of water and rest when your not feeling so good, but remember that this is the time when you are at your healthiest. The best thing i found was to eat what i wanted when i wanted little and often is probably the best way, but be aware of your weight as what you put on you have got to lose and it is not always that easy. Is this your first? Good luck.

There ARE safe anti-emetic drugs that can be used in pregnancy but you will need to see your doctor and get them prescribed for you.

I tried all the natural thing - the ginger (gave me heartburn), the dry biscuits (did nothing) the boiled sweets/preggie pops (made me feel more sick), sipping lemonade (make me puke) and basically NOTHING worked! I saw my Consultant in desperation and he prescribed me Cyclizine. I only had to take one tablet a day and it really controlled the nausea.

The sickness got better at about 14 weeks of pregnancy so I didn't need to take it after that. It has not had any ill effects on my baby at all, but made life easier for me to cope with as I just felt so ill before and none of the old wives tales or "natural" remedies helped a bit - I had 24/7 really strong nausea. I think the self-help remedies - dry biscuits, ginger, lemonade etc only work for mild queasiness attacks.

There are several antiemetics which can be safely used in pregnancy - I think Stemetil, Cyclizine and Phenergan are the main ones, but you will have to get them prescribed for you by a doctor.

Chamomille tea (Manzanilla) is very soothing and contains no caffeine. You could wake yourself up in the middle of the night (get used to it) and eat a couple of crackers so your tummy isnt empty when you wake again. By the way, the tea is great for the baby too later on down the road..use sugar not honey.

Hey there! I am 30 weeks with my first, a boy....and no morning sickness at all! As a matter of fact, I was famished during my 1st trimester! But...they say folic acid really helps with morning sickness, and I took a prenatal supplement 1 year before conceiving...who knows...maybe folic acid...maybe it's the boy!

There's nothing you can really 'take' for morning sickness. Remember the Thalydomide occurence? Try nibbling on dry biccies or toast. Personally, for me, it helped never to have an empty stomach. Keep eating throughout the day, dry biccies, toast, crisps - anything really, and your tummy will be busy digesting. Of course for other people it wokrs to eat nothing at all! Don't worry about it though, keep your GP informed, and unless it gets serious, you'll be fine. It's inconvenient, unpleasant and very irritating, but it will be forgotten soon.

A recent study in the Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology suggests that ginger may reduce vomiting in 63 percent of pregnant women without the side effects associated with perscription anti-nausea drug and doesn't have any negative effects on your pregnancy. ginger candy comes in three forms - hard, chewy, or crystalized. An all natural and invigorating way to battle your morning sickness.
