The color is bright red, because it is fresh blood.

It depends on the person and how gentle the partner was.
Most experience light bleeding, even spotting, and only for a few minutes. It is generally light red to pinkish in color, and there shouldn't be much.
Anything otherwise might be a serious medical problem, and a trip to the ER is needed.

When the hymen breaks, it doesn't necessarily bleed. If it does, the blood will be bright red/pink.

I didn't have very much blood at all.I peed out a small peice of flesh with dark blood hanging off of it,and my **** was sore for a couple days;)
