There's no way to know if the drinking alcohol before you know will affect your baby but the odds are in your favor. You should however do some research on fetal alcohol syndrome so you know what you may be faced with. It's ok if certain foods don't appeal to you-just avoid them. Try to eat as many fresh fruits and veggies you can. Also, peanut butter is a good meat alternative. Yogurt, nuts, and whole wheats are all good choices. Keep taking the prenatals, don't drink, smoke, or lift extremely heavy things. Get lots of rest, keep stress to a minimum and have a happy and healthy nine months!

First Congratulations! Second, relax and breathe! Good job on taking prenatal vitamins. don't worry about the drink you had as there is nothing you can do about that now. Most books will tell you constantly drinking or continuing to drink may cause some birth defects.
No need to change your lifestyle unless it endangers you physically. Lifting heavy things is always a risk of throwing your back out, but if you are comfortable go for it. Your body is not a fragile shell, you are a strong woman! Your body will be changing and probably already has to start protecting baby.
Go out and buy yourself "What to Expect when you're expecting" as it wil answer most/all of your questions. It's a great reliable source!

Calm down, Shug. A drink or two before you even knew won't give you a bubble-headed baby. Everything will be fine. Fetal alcohol syndrome happens when you drink all the time. But you should still stop drinking now! And if you are really nauseous, then that is supposed to be a sign of a healthy pregnancy (supposedly). Just make sure that you don't get dehydrated. Drink LOTS of fluids, but stay away from caffeine and anything carbonated (sodas). Meat is just fine, but if it makes you ill, then don't eat it. Eat what you feel like, in moderation, but try to avoid junk food. Also avoid weird stuff like sushi and anything raw or unidentifyable. Just use common sense and you should be fine. Talk to your doctor when in doubt. Good luck!

the alcohol you consumed before you took the test will not have an effect on the baby. Eat lots of fruits and veggies and lots of whole grains. You are smart by taking your prenatal vitamins because the folice acid in them is most important in the first stages of developement against spinal bifida and other neurological problems. Lifting heavy things will not cause a miscarriage in early pregnancy. Chromosone defects and hormone levels are the usual causes (sometimes sever trauma but very rare). In the early stages, get lots of good stuff to eat, lots of rest because you will get tired from all the hormone changes, walking (or if you have an exercise program already) is very benificial, and I found what helped me was to go online and read as much as I could about the stages of development of baby. It's truely fascinating! Congrats!

Don't worry about having had a few drinks before finding out, that's a fairly common concern and unless you were on a binge drinking spree you likely did no damage..The key would be to stop now that you know your pregnant.
You will probably experience a few food aversions, just avoid what makes you quesy until you can eat it again without gagging. Try to eat alot of fresh fruits and veggies, cut back on processed foods and add lots of whole grains and fiber to your diet to avoid constipation which is common in pregnancy.
Start taking folic acid, it can be found OTC at most grocery stores.
Avoid heavy lifting and strenuous excersise, from here on out the key to everything is moderation.
Get plenty of rest and take care of yourself both physically and emotionally.
Good luck and congrats!

There's nothing you can do about the past drinking. So, don't stress yourself about it. Prenatal vitamins already is a great start. Avoid Aspirin, Pepto Bismol, and Salacylic Acid (in clear skin/acne products) because they are salicylates and bad for you. Eat what you are able to...the baby will steal the nutrients from you if you are not eating enough of what it needs. If you're a smoker stop or start trying to stop. Otherwise, start looking forward to your soon to be baby, and trying to figure out what stores in your area carry maternity clothes...although you might want to put off buying any until you get closer to the end of your first trimester...because your everything gets bigger than you'd expect.

I drank almost 3 coolers before I found out I was pregnant. When I went to my doctors appoiintment, I told my doctor what I did and told me I should get an ultra sound to make sure everything was fine. When the ultra sound results came back, the doctor said the baby is fine. Now all I drink is water, chocolate milk and occasionally pop. Most of my favorite foods don't agree with me. Eat things that do agree with you. When I was pregnant with my first child, the doctors told me to stop eatting peanut butter 1 week before I gave birth, and I love peanut butter. The doctors said to stop eatting it, just incase of allergies. I hope this helps.

congratulations!!!
don't worry about the fact you drank before you found out. It won't affect the baby.
Don't eat now any raw fish or meat, no sushi. Good that you started the vitamins. milk and other products should be pasteurized. Limit caffeine. If u have a cat, don't change it's litter box. Don't worry. Ask your doctor the rest. Don't hesitate to ask him/her an every question. Good luck.

Congratulations
I found out I was pregnant 3 weeks after little man was concieved. I drank 1/2 bottle of wine a day, smoked 20fags and drank A LOT of caffiene. Gave up all this the day I found out and gave birth to a health 9lbs 2.5oz baby
All you can do is eat a varied diet (avoid soft cheese, uncooked eggs, vitamin A, liver, shell fish), steer clear of the obvious (fags, booze, caffiene), take things easy, and gentle exercise boosts oxygen to the bump.

Good for you doing the right thing taking vitamins and not drinking anymore.
When my mom was pregnant with me, she lost 50 lbs over the course of the pregnancy because she had such awful morning sickness. Fortunately she had it to lose. It's just your body throwing off toxins. It's OK and it's normal, although my mom's scenario wasn't that normal.
You're doing the right thing by going to the doctor. You'll get lots of good information there.
