Pregnancy & Parenting - 18 August 2006

The doctor prescribed Nystatin and the info sheet I got with the prescription said it caused nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or stomach upset. Please tell me, those of you who've used this with your babies, that these side effects do not occur very often...makes me almost not want to give it to her! If these symptoms did occur with any of your babies, how bad was it, and what did you do for it? Health food store did not carry gentian violet, by the way. Thx!

I have to admit when she told me I wasn't as excited as I was the first time because I was really hurt when she lost the baby not to mention the fight that almost broke us up. I didn't really have time to get over it because I had to be there for her and the things she was going through both physically and mentally. She's figuring out that I'm not as excited this time, I just don't want it to end out the way it did the first time...Any helpful words?

I started my period at 15 1/2. I am about to be 17 in a couple of months. Since I started I have only had it four or five times. Currently 5 months have passed without it. I'm not sexually active so there is no way I could be pregnant.

I've picked out a few things, but it seems that everything besides onsies, gowns and sleepers might irritate the umbilical nubby. I really wanted to put her in an actual outfit for pictures and stuff, but I just don't want her little belly button to be irritated by it. It's a little onsie with a skirt that goes over it (with an elastic waistband). What do you think? What did you dress YOUR baby in?

Be it sexually or physically or emotionally. How can they do it? Kids are so innocent, how could they make an adult so mad that they abuse them? Or how can an adult look at a child with sexual eyes? Does it disgust you as much as me?

When my kids were younger, what they ate (fruit, veggies, salad, fish) was more important to me than how they ate, so I did not emphasize table manners. Unfortunately, now, all too often, their spoon and fork sit cleanly beside their plate for the entire meal while they use their fingers! I can remind them to use silverware, which works for a bite or two, but how can I encourage them to use their silverware and/or help them want to have good table manners? I'm concerned that I'm neglecting my parental duties by not addressing this matter. I'd prefer not to result to extreme measures or fear tactics (e.g., "Next time you use your fingers, you'll be dismissed with no more food for the rest of the night") if I can help it (although, come to think of it, this would probably be effective). They are still working out their motor skills, so I can understand their temptation, plus we often eat corn on the cob, grapes, and other things that "are" acceptable finger foods. Thoughts?

I just found out that I was 6 weeks pregnate last week (todays friday) on monday I fell seriously ill couldn't get out of bed and I was vomiting every 10 to 20 minutes all the way until early wednesday morning.(yeah morning sickness) Thursday was fine but now today I'm vomiting again. I tried to eat an apple, crackers, dry frosted flakes I drank water, I've gone for walks, and the worst thing: I've tried to ignore it. Now I'm burping like crazy when I vomit and now its starting to hurt. I can't keep anything down you think I'll be ok?? any ideas to help me get to the next trimester?

He wants to be in the NFL, and at this age he's as talented as most 10yr olds would be. He plays for the city league,full contact, not flag...how soon should I actually get involved with his training for highschool football? what if you drank and did drugs before you found out you were, indeed, pregnant?

if you were only maybe 1 week to 6 weeks? is there a greater chance it has hurt the fetus?

basically, the night before I found out I was...(which was a VERY irresponsible thing to do..even tho I was stressing I had no excuse to do the last thing I did) I smoked some ciggs, drank some hard liquior, and a lil bit of 'yayo' <~(what i regret doing)..

My mom is getting ready 2 give birth to twins in a cupple months. Im almost 14 yrs old n a boy. Were planning 2 go somewhere (either egypt, thailand or mexico city) and shell be giving birth to the babies there. She is very big so she cant move around more than a mile or so per day. Wherever we go, she wont be giving birth in a hospital, well do it in a home (that we'd be renting). She is already starting to feel the baby moving around so we have to go soon. I will def. b present 4 da delivery, labor, whole 9 yards. We r a little bit worried, becaus she already is in a LOT of pain but shes defintely having a normal birth. the plane ride wont be 2 hard - well have 2 rent 3 seats so she can lie down. Anyways plz answer!!!!!!!!!!!! more info coming

I saw my OB/GYN today...She said I am dilated 3, 70% effaced...I also saw her this past Tuesday and I was dilated 2..50% effaced..Does anyone think if I do some serious wakling this evening, it will help me to go into full blown labor? I have been having contractions, and period type cramping...I am SOOO over all this mess, I just want to have her already! Any other suggestions welcome
