1st - I had to answer your question just because we share a name AND a due date!!! (This is my 2nd child)
Pick out something cute that wont press on her belly button, onsies arent the best choice. Choose a shirt with seperate shorts or a dress, or a gown.
A good choice for newborns are those side snap shirts or gowns, they're both easy.
I packed a little purple dress that will be nice & loose over the belly but is still a cute outfit, I know she'll be getting her picture taken alot that day.
Congrats & good luck to you Mandy!

It's been quite some time since I went through this, but I put my babies in gowns. I mean, they were probably going to be sleeping once we got home anyhow!
Don't worry about an "actual outfit," because no matter what you dress the baby in, you'll want to take photos. There shouldn't be a huge deal made about her umbilical cord nubby.
As a new mom, you'll have a lot of other more worrisome things on your mind. Don't stress over this one! Just put her in something comfortable (you'll be changing a lot of diapers and the easiest/most convenient thing to put her in that looks nice makes the most sense).
Good luck w/this new milestone in your life!!

The umbilical cord has no nerves, so if something rubs against it, it won't irritate your baby at all. The reason they tell you to keep the edge of the diaper folded down is to help it dry out...not to prevent irritation.
With my first son, I bought him a special little pants outfit to wear (it was March in Michigan, and VERY cold). I also brought a nice warm receiving blanket.
With my second son, we bought him a little short-sleeve onesie outfit with pants and brought a light weight receiving blanket. (It was July and pretty warm outside).
If you're really concerned, you can either hike up her pants above her belly button or make them "low rise" by folding the waistband down. Most first baby pictures I've seen are from mid-chest up, so nobody will see that she's not wearing pants, or that the waist is folded down.

I went to a special shop and purchased a very nice two piece outfit for my newborn son. The bottom was blue and white stripes and the top was white with a blue rocking horse and it said "thank heaven for little boys". It looked so tiny in the store and when I went to put it on in the hospital if just hung off of him, it was huge. I took it off and I put him in a newborn onesie and that looked perfect. I forgot how tiny they are coming home from the hospital. Your outfit sounds nice and if the skirt is rubbing on the cord then she can just wear the onesie. She will look adorable either way. Congrats.

I would advise against an outfit that can irritate the umbilicial cord. It will fall off in about a week and then you can put all of that cutesy stuff on. I had my baby in a convert-a-gown (it's pajamas that snaps up the legs, but can also be worn as a gown) with little pink elephants, carriages, and rattles on it. Adorable!

I put my daughter in a Lilttle Newborn dress from carters. i used one from the "sweet daisy" collection..but theres some very cute others out there too.*bunches of love, little rose, Pretty in pink..ect*
Old navy also makes cute "born in 2006" sets...they also make real cute clothing..they are inexpensive and fit well too.
do you expect to have a big baby? or small? my daughter was 6lbs 6oz..i brought 2 "going home" outfits..the 0-3 was TOO big on her..she only fit into the Newborn/preemie sizes for the first 2 months or so!
I dont recommend having anything elastic on the waiste(pants..skirts..)dresses are better..wont irritate her umbilical cord stub. Onesies are cute too!

I just recently found out that I'm pregnant and found the cutest little outfit for a baby to be brought home in. It's in a magazine called The Lakeside Collection (www..lakeside.com) It comes for a boy or girl. It's a little 2 piece baby scrubs outfit. It has a place where you write the baby's name, date of birth, hospital, weight, inches, time and hospital. It fits infants up to 10 pounds, and I'm telling you........it's adorable!!! It would be a great keepsake.

Congrats, first of all! We dressed our baby girl in a very cute, colorful one-piece sleeper outfit with footies. It had a matching bib and she looked so adorable it almost looked like we were on our way to church! Besides, your baby pics will be precious even if the baby is dressed in a brown paper bag lol. Everyone will be staring in delight at your baby, not her clothing. Best wishes! :)
