Because they don't have good guideance, maybe it's not all their fault. If their parents would take the time out of their busy schedules and make room their kids, this wouldn't be happening! Sometimes all takes is to see how their day went at school, who are they hanging out with. Maybe even schedule to pick them up one day and just hang out. I love babies. and if i could get pregnant and support a baby i would. but i dont have money like some teens do. there is nothing wrong with a teenager having a baby. just because we're young doesnt mean anything. Ok. Alot of teen mothers turn out to be GREAT with they're kids. Maybe all the other smartass intries were just mad because they were ugly and weren't able to get 'some' is why they make those remarks. my only problem is not having the money. i love babys and as soon as i can get a job i WILL have one of my own as long as its with the RIGHT guy. and thats really all that matters .. juss so that that baby gets the LOVE that it needs and more!

I'm 30, and I find it annoying that adults always act like they wern't having oral sex and regular sex when they were in high school! Come on--were YOU a virgen in high school? If not, then shut up!

I'm a 30 year old Teacher and I dont have kids--but kids have babies because they are having SEX, and they live in a culture that wants to preach abstinance, ban condoms & birth control..They will keep having babies until these stupid parents realize that teens have sex just like THEY DID in high school!

There are many reasons why young teenagers are getting pregnant. Today amongst teens, having sex is the thing to do. Teens that are not sexually active are viewed as weird and attacked by their peers. Teenagers are more informed about sex today than ever yet many do not practice safe sex or abstinence.

Unfortunately teenagers get most of their information about sex from the wrong places like the media and their friends. When they get information from the right places such as their parents or schools it is either a one time talk about the "birds and the bees", or a lengthy discussion about reproductive organs, menstrual cycles, and abstinence.

Many teenagers do not practice safe sex, use birth control, and are often promiscuous because they feel they are "invisible" and that pregnancy and STD's won't happen to them. In many places in North America, it is easier to get an abortion than it is for a teen to buy alcohol. This leaves no reason for them to practice safe sex because they are aware that the option to have an abortion is open to them.

We need to retire the stone-age idea that promoting abstinence is the only way to teach teens about safe sex. I agree that abstaining from sexual activity is a surefire way to protect yourself from STD's and unwanted pregnancies however, it is an unrealistic and proven ineffective approach to tackle the problem with today's teens. We need to come up with contemporary solutions to this contemporary problem and come up with new ways to inform teenagers about safe sex, contraception, disease, and pregnancy.

Parents need to be more involved and shed any feelings of taboo they may have when approaching their children about sex. We need to start talking to our children younger, and continue to be open about the topic as our children grow older. Men need to realize the important role that they play in the lives of their children. Statistics show that women with absentee or uninvolved fathers tend to have lower self-esteem and are often promiscuous using sex with men as a surrogate for the love and attention they never received from their fathers. The same goes for boys who are often promiscuous if they have an absent father or one who is promiscuous. As a society we should abolish the double standard that men who sleep around are studs and women who do are sluts and instead we should de-glorify promiscuity and uplift monogamy.
