Be it sexually or physically or emotionally. How can they do it? Kids are so innocent, how could they make an adult so mad that they abuse them? Or how can an adult look at a child with sexual eyes? Does it disgust you as much as me?

Yes, I find it very disgusting and disturbing. My adopted nephew was an abused child. His birth mother shook him when he was just an infant. He wasn't supposed to live, but today he is a happy, healthy and very smart (too smart for his own good...lol) 5 year old!

It's definitely one of those things that I don't get. But I'm positive that it's a serious illness in the brain that causes a person to do these things.

I'm a single mom with 3 young children. I've caught myself doing/saying things to them that I consider physical and verbal abuse. But in the moment, we're only human and we forget all the great tips we learn on Dr. Phil and Oprah. Do I feel horrible after I do this?? Of course I do. I cool down, then go to them and ask for forgiveness ... explaining how wrong I was, and trying to tell them how important they are to me ... (trying to undo the damage, I guess). My point is, we're not always perfect as parents or adults for that matter. We have to just keep on trying.

As for the sexual abuse of a child ... to me, that's in a completely different category altogether. I just can't seem to fathom that. I don't think anyone can completely.

Thats why they can do it so easily. A child is very impressionalbe and will 9 times out of 10 believe anything an adult tells them. Younger children are unfourtnatley the innocent victims. Yes, it does disgust me like you wouldn't even imagine.

The only people that it don't bother are the ones doing it. I was abused and my daughter was abused and so was my grandson. It is a horrible experience for anyone and I think all child sex abusers should have to have a tattoo on their cheeks or somehting so we know them when we see them and all kids will know them too. The man that abused my daughter was a 3rd time offender. It is a very sick and disgusting person who can do that or beat a child either. Spanking is one thing, beating is another.

Abusers are mentally ill; their judgement is completely off, so their decisions don't make any sense. I agree, abusing children is horrible and disgusting. It ruins the kid for life, even if they get proffessional help. I personally don't think they actually get turned on by sexually abusing kids; it's probably more of a power thing. They feel powerful when they take advantage of someone who's physically weaker than them. It's despicable!

I can not understand it at all. I have 2 adopted children that I got when they were older, they are grown now and the things that happened to them has affected their lives so much. After my children left home, which I had 2 also, I had empty nest syndrome and got into therapeutic foster care. These kids are so sweet that I have now but so many issues. I have a great deal of problems with trying to reunited this kids with their families, which is one of the first goals set. It usually does not get done, but we try to give them all the love and understanding we can. And the sad thing is these kids do not know that what has happened to them is not the norm, they still love their parents. But we keep on trying.

Yes it does. I lived through both sexual, emotional and physical abuse as a child and i couldn't imagine me doing any of those things to my kids. I can't say i don't get mad at my children but i would never hurt them I actually walk away and let my husband punish them. :-)

That is wrong that kids get abused. I have been abused and been abused for lots of years and seen abuse happening my whole life. I when i yhave my own family i am not going to abuse . I am going to love and care for the child. I want to be a foster parent. But first i need to have my own place . I want to foster kids wih special needs.

because they have mental problems or have power issues and it makes them feel good to have someone be afraid of them i hate people that say "oh i was abused" when they got caught abusing their kids, wouldn't you know how it felt and wouldn't want your child feeling like that why have kids if you want to abuse them there are plenty of people that cant have kids that would die to adopt. everyday i than god for my precious children they make me who i am and i feel complete i wish they had a special island for abusers so we would be able to bring up our kids in a loving world without the fear of them being hurt as well as all the other kids out there.i cant even comprhiend how peple can think children "turn them on". this is a sick world we live in if we ALL were parents like me and you it would actually be a nice place to be.

I feel the same way as you. I don't understand what is wrong with these people. I watched a tv show the other night about feral children. it was about children left by their parents to be raised by dogs or other animals and children that were so neglected that they never even learned to speak. It's heart breaking. Every case that I read about or hear about on the news, makes me want to become a foster parent even more. Every child deserves love, affection, and people who truly care about them.
