what if you drank and did drugs before you found out you were, indeed, pregnant?

if you were only maybe 1 week to 6 weeks? is there a greater chance it has hurt the fetus?

basically, the night before I found out I was...(which was a VERY irresponsible thing to do..even tho I was stressing I had no excuse to do the last thing I did) I smoked some ciggs, drank some hard liquior, and a lil bit of 'yayo' <~(what i regret doing)..

the other thing I...
was snorting cocaine. >=/

terrible! huh?!

so i drank, smoked ciggs, oh yeah-- i smoked a little weed, AND snorted.

won't my doctor call the authorities or place me in rehab for the snorting cocaine AND while pregnant?????! ::scared::

I really AM pregnant.
This pregnancy is just a lot different from the others. Plus-- I never drank alcohol, smoked, and snorted coke while pregnant before. And never did it when I wasn't pregnant. So, it's pretty scary for me.
I will ask my doctor. My frist appt isn't until the end of this month. So for the time being, I have all these questions in my head.

No. I don't plan on ever doing coke ever ever again!

Drinking..I'm not really a drinker anymore. Weed- it's not all that to me.. and ciggs.. i quit with no problem. esp now that i am pregnant-- i am very sensitive to smells. i'll strangle someone who smokes even 50 feet away!

i know i'm somewhere b/w ...what? 3-6 weeks? again, i won't know till the end of this month-- my frist prenatal appt.
i don't want and plan on doing any more drugs. i snorted coke once and don't want to do it again. pregnant or not.

Thanks! Yes I do.

Teen mother, turned failed-abusive marriage, w/ my mother passing away 4 months ago, and in b/w all those difficulties...going thru other demons... can be tough1 I don't have a drug history or anything. i was brought up in a 'good home', went to Christian school, church, straight up goody-2-shoes..

still.. no excuse for what i did.

You don't want to go to the doctor because of the possibility of getting in trouble. Well...call an ob-gyn anonymously and ask. I don't condone what you've done by any means, it was extremely irresponsible pregnant or not. Thing is...if you do have that baby, and he/she is okay, do you plan to resume your irresponsible behavior? I have a cousin who was born addicted to cocaine. She was a miserable child. Cried inccessantly from withdrawl. So it isn't impossible to carry the child. But you should definitely check yourself in somewhere. If not for you, for your baby. He/She relies solely upon you. Make a change, make a responsible decision. I am praying for you and for your little one.

God Bless

The way we take care of our body during our life-time up to the time of conceiving also effects a woman's eggs. If you were into drugs and drinking PRIOR to even becoming PG, you, even then, stand a chance that your eggs could produce a baby with birth defects. Now doing drugs, and alcohol WHILE pg definitely has an effect.

You should be upfront and honest with your OB/GYN and tell them your history with drugs. NO, they will not turn you in. They will more than likely be more conscience of the growth of the fetus and possibly do additional testing that they wouldn't do with someone that hasn't done drugs (ie: assuming you are younger than 35, they may suggest an amnio whereas they don't typically unless there are concerns OR you are 35+).

While you should be severely punished (just so you can learn a lesson or two), they won't "call in the authorities".

Hopefully your stupidity will discontinue and God will bless you with a healthy baby........................... "smarten up"!!!!!!!!!!!! You DO know better.

First off, decide if you want to keep the baby. If you feel you wont be able to handle the responsibility of raising a child, that baby might be better of not being born.
If you decide you want the baby, you have to quit the drugs and alcohol. not only during pregnancy, but at least until that kid grows up.
Maybe rehab would be a good thing for you? Maybe it could help you actually quit the drugs. If you decide to keep on doing drugs, I think it's just irresponsible to keep the baby. It's the baby or the drugs. Your choice.

As for you original question: If you keep it clean the rest of the pregnancy, I think there's a very good chance you'll give birth to a healthy baby. One single time can screw it up, if you do it over and over it _will_ screw things up.

First of all, STOP USING ANY DRUGS AND DRINKING ANY ALCOHOL AND SMOKING ANYTHING IMMEDIATELY.
The possibility of birth defects depends on how heavy you were using. If it was infrequent causal use, you need to let your doctor know. You won't be jailed and authorities won't be called unless your baby tests positive for substances when it is born. If you are a habitual drug user, rehab is what you need; especially while pregnant.
Take this baby as a sign that it is time to get your life together.
Good Luck.

I know excatly what your feeling. My babies dad shot up a lot before i ever got pregnant...And i did my own thing with huffing gas drinking and smoking weed. yeah its stupid at the time but you arent thinking about that when you do it...but when i found out i was pregnant i couldnt even think when the last time it was that i was sober off everything. i was 10 half weeks when i found out and the only reason i found out is cause i was over at my freinds ho use and we were smoking and she was bit ching about her period and i was like oh shi t whens the last time i had mine? it dawned on me. I hadnt and I wasnt going too. When i had her she had low blood sugar level. which was at a 7 and they said if it got any lower they'd take her to the lil rock hospital and that was scary. i dont know if that was my fault considering he had another daughter who is way off worse then mine ever thought about being . My daughter is fine now theres nothing wrong with her she does have to attend speech therepy. I don't know if it's from me doing that but i do feel responisble for like it is my fault. Just hope for the best and tell you're doctor the truth so she knows to watch you extra close for your babies sake. Goodluck and congratulations!:}

As long as it was only done once, your baby should be fine. I drank and smoke(cigs) a two occasions before I found I was preg with my first child. She was fine, doc said not to worry. Be careful before any blood work is done though. In my state I know if they find drugs in your system you can get in a lot of trouble and have to do subsequent drug testing through out preg.

he can't unless you are still doing it... which you aren't right???? STOP EVERYTHING... save your baby... that's all you can do. Remember, patient/doctor confidentiality. I told my doctor about doing a particularly stupid drug a few months ago and all he could do was say.. don't do that again... that's it...

there is a possibility that you're baby is hurt, however the brain is not yet fully formed... so you have a good chance that you're baby is ok as long as you don't do anything else for the rest of the pregnancy.

i had 2 teeth pulled within the first week or two of pregnancy, i had plenty of novacain, laughing gas, vikadins, tilenol, and a drug called tegretol as a mood stableizer, i asked my doc about my concerns and he said thier is no blood transfer in the first 21 days after conception, and not to be worried about anything before that point so if you were less than 2 weeks late when you did all this, you should be ok

Do you plan to do it again? If you are SURE that you won't... just tell the doc the truth... and ask him to tell you what (if any) effects there may be on your child... won't hurt to tell him how you feel about it now... Smoking and drinking arent Recommended, but i hadn't heard that they'd actually managed to make those Illegal yet.... But the Cocaine... THAT you DO need to talk to the doc about... for your peace of mind, if nothing else....

if you aren't a habitual user of anything just stop they aren't going to lock you up just for partying if you can stop just don't do coke period its dumb not enough bang for you buck. cut back on smoking and say no to the booze and weed. tone it down and go get checked out they wont do anything to you weren't aware you were pregnate the baby is to small for anything serious to happen to it due to drugs or anything be sure to stop and not mess with that crap any more.
