I saw my OB/GYN today...She said I am dilated 3, 70% effaced...I also saw her this past Tuesday and I was dilated 2..50% effaced..Does anyone think if I do some serious wakling this evening, it will help me to go into full blown labor? I have been having contractions, and period type cramping...I am SOOO over all this mess, I just want to have her already! Any other suggestions welcome
Thank you

Walking...lots and lots of walking! My doc told me nipple stimulation (no joke!) was a good way to get things going as well. But it's gotta be by your partner...doesn't work as well by yourself. Fun for you, fun for him! Good luck and Congrats!!! Lord Bless...

I think your baby will come when he is ready and when your body is ready.

Cervical checks really and truely mean nothing. You can be closed up tight as a drum and have a baby a couple of hours later. Or you can walk around for a week or more 3-4 cm dilated and 100% effaced. Some caregivers never do cervical checks, not even in labor. (Midwives know how to look at the mom's behavior and listen to her vocalize and can often judge how far along she is by that in labor.)

If you want to go for a walk, go for a walk. It could help bring your baby farther down into your pelvis to put more pressure on your cervix. It may or may not help get anything moving as far as labor is concerned. Really, nothing will work unless your body is ready. It can't hurt to try as long as you don't exhaust yourself.

Sex can help too. Semen can ripen the cervix and orgasm can bring on contractions.

Be patient and trust in your body. Your baby will never be this easy to care for again. See a massage therapist and have a massage. This will relieve some of your pregnancy discomforts and balance your body. That will make labor easier when it comes. Pamper yourself. Get a haircut or get your nails done. Pretty soon you won't have time for that.

Because at this time you could go from 70%, 3CM to 100% 10CM quickly I would suggest walking around your home.

I know you are probably think "what?". The last thing you want is to be walking on the road and go into labor. If you are home you are more likely to make it to the hospital in time.

Clean house. Do some scrubbing of the floors/windows/ETC.

Make sure you take it easy though. You don't wanna do to much and have something happen.

I wish you the best of luck!

You are in labor. The baby will be here soon. My labor never felt any harder than period type cramps. As a matter of fact, I slept for 8 hours during it. Go ahead and walk. Can't hurt, might help.

Oh, and best wishes for a speedy delivery and a healthy baby! Congratulations!

you know the sperm from a man will help thin your cervix and break your water. So try having sex that will help. Also walking will help bring the contractions on and in turn will help you dilate. Try those OK. Good luck and congratulations. Jenn is right, nipple stimulation does help your uterus contract.

As an RN and a mother of 5, don't overdoit!!!! I tried to walk alot during my last one I was just like you. I ended up becoming dehydrated and even more uncomfortable and still didn't have him until 2 weeks later. Do some walking and good breathing techniques but please don't overdoit!!!

yes it's true walking will definitely speed up your body to kick in to labor, if you really want to have this baby by tonight or tomorrow morning...I'd get out and start walking, climbing up and down stairs. make sure your close to the hospital when you decide to start this because if this is your 1st or 2ND pregnancy also makes a difference.

Yeah I think you could go into labor very soon. Talk with your husband and call your obgyn for advice. Good luck, I'm eight months pregnant and I can't wait for my little bundle of joy.
