Pregnancy & Parenting - 24 June 2006

I am really having a hard time deciding how much time to take off from teaching. I am thinking about quitting and getting back in to it when my child is a little older or until a closer job comes open. I am due in Sept. I work 45 min away and wouldn't get home until 5:30 every night. My husband could support us, but I hate not having my own money. I would need to budget better. I worry about my self worth if I don't teach. I do like my job but am afraid of having other people practically raise my child. This is really stressing me out! I am almost 26 years old. I already quit coaching b-ball. People at work like me. I would be afraid of letting people down. Is it bad that I have waited until almost July to inform them that I don't plan to return? (if that's what I decide to do) I grew up with babysitters and turned out good...although I have some bad memories of baby sitters and other kids that were there. I don't know who I would trust to watch my baby. Teachers do get summers off.

the past 2 months my husband and i have had some problems. he has been wanting a baby for the past year but now that i am pregnant, he is acting different. we havent seen eachother much since we found out because of our different work schedules. he was supposed to be home b4 i had to go to work and never came home and wont answer my calls. i dont know what i did. i just feel so alone, scared, and i dont know what to think.

My husband and I have decided we are going to try to have a baby. I have been off BCPs for about 3 months now and although it is possible I'm pregnant now, as my period has not started, we want to know if there is anything we can do to increase the chances if I am not. This is just a place to toss around ideas. One thing I've heard of is taking Soy Isoflavons on days 5-9 of your cycle to kinda jump start ovulation and since my periods had been really erratic for a while before I started taking the BCPs I thought this might be good for us to try. Does anybody have any opinions on using Soy, or can anyone offer any other suggestions? Any help is appreciated!

My son is 3 months old. He drinks about 25-26 oz (breast milk and formula) every day. So far, he has been gaining weight as expected (birth wieight: 7lb 6 oz, now: 15 lb 2 oz). But the real concern we have is over the last 1 week or so, he refuses to drink milk when he is awake. He will have about 1 to 1 1/2 ounces and then rest he will drink only when is fallen asleep. We know he is hungry because he really grabs on to the bottle and sucks vigourously in his sleep.

According to our pediatrician, he does some reflux but she opines that it is very light and he will outgrow it soon.

Is there anything that we need to worry about here? Does anyone had similar experience withh their kids? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

My friend thinks his ex lied to him about a miscarraige and it is bothering him not knowing this is what he told me they lived together and she was on the pill he used a condom and pulled out everytime and she had no problems or was sick or anything and one day she walked out the door and came back about 1 hr and a half to two hours later and said she was 10 wks pregnant and miscarried she said it was twins a boy and a girl is it possible what do you think I have never had one so I don't know what to tell him please help he thinks she might have lied to him to keep the relationship going or to get him to marry her what do you think?

Hi im 21 and im almost six months preg... This is my first child but im confused... The doctor says i should be feelin the baby moving but im not i try to pay attention to it but im just not feeling it.... You say "don't abort." But when you vote, you don't vote for those who would support the government programs to aid people who have unplanned pregnancies. You say "adoption's a choice," yet many kids go unadopted. Foster programs all over the US are a mess. You say "be responsible for your choices" but then complain when people use government programs and vote for those that would end them. You say "prevent pregnancies" well, sometimes they happen anyway. What do you suggest for those teenage moms, whose parents kicked them out of the house, whose boyfriends don't want anything to do with them? Don't lecture me either. I'm asking for a solution here.

This is my 3rd child but the first one I was induced after he was a week late, and then with my daughter I lost the mucus plug and had her 8 hrs. later. This one I am to a 4 but cervix is still 50% thick. Just wondering if anyone has been through this before. And if so how long before you went into labor??

She is just not that social, or wanting to be awake to look around and stuff. I'm breastfeeding and she is eating and satisfed and "going" alot, and seems healthy. She wakes to eat like every 2 to 3 hours, I change her then feed her, and then she just goes back to sleep.
