My son is 3 months old. He drinks about 25-26 oz (breast milk and formula) every day. So far, he has been gaining weight as expected (birth wieight: 7lb 6 oz, now: 15 lb 2 oz). But the real concern we have is over the last 1 week or so, he refuses to drink milk when he is awake. He will have about 1 to 1 1/2 ounces and then rest he will drink only when is fallen asleep. We know he is hungry because he really grabs on to the bottle and sucks vigourously in his sleep.

According to our pediatrician, he does some reflux but she opines that it is very light and he will outgrow it soon.

Is there anything that we need to worry about here? Does anyone had similar experience withh their kids? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I can only share my experience, My youngest born at 6lb 10oz by 3 months was 22lb 3oz..and the same thing bothered me. My babies gag reflux didn't disappear until around the middle of four months and still has trouble sometimes. However I did finally get to start him on baby food, with cereal and that has seemed to help him from drinking 17 1/2 cans of formula a month to 12 cans of formula a month and mine is more content now and sleeps better, not using a bottle while sleeping but wakes up one-two times sometimes cause he is hungry but that is slowly fading.
Don't worry and listen to your pediatrician they know exactly what you are going threw and each child is different in all aspects of growing...

It does get better. I know cause things are calming down around here and what ever weight they have now, they will crawl off when they start moving around more.

Follow the advice and direction of you pediatrician. You could get 1,000 different opinions by 1,000 different mothers. But when all is said and done, your pediatriacian knows your babies physical condition, growth habits, and has examined your child.

Arm-chair physicians can be extremely dangerous.

if he is gaining weight there is no need for concern, next week you might not even have this probelm, babies change so do their habits and appetites. As long as he looks happy and alert and IS drinking and still wetting nappies and gainging weight he is FINE!
good luck

Eh, he sounds spoiled to me.
You should try some old fashoned guilt. Tell him that there are babies in other countries that don't have the benefit of boobies or milk.

If that doesn't work, starve him a few days. Then he;ll be diving for it.

Good luck.

This usually happens to babies that over eat. let the baby eat when he wants to don't force or over feed him. He will go back to normal in no time, just give it some time.
