that "he was told he can pretty much write his own ticket". Any thoughts on which branch is best. He's going to have a recruiter come out this weekend to get more info. I think the military would be great, but to be honest...I'm just a little fearful. Thanks for your input.

Being a female (maybe thats why??) I seem to encounter them a lot... (not to mention a ton of my in-laws!!) and if I care about the person I will take the time and explain all of my real reasons.... but what about those people that are just uninformed and ungrateful that just want to make a "smart" comment??? The ones that say "What are you, suicidal.. dont you know we're at war" or something to that affect....
I dont want to be rude, but its a little hard... The three responses Ive been using are:

Im going so you dont have to...

Im going so you have the freedom to say.. (whatever dumb coment they just said)

And ...So you can put a "support the troops" bumper stick on your car and pretend that you do!

But hey, its getting old...
Any other ways yall have of ending the discussion?

Question: My 17 y/o daughter is now talking to a recruiter thanks to her friend LOL. I looked at the weight requirements and she is about 10 lbs. over for a 5'4" female (it's 137).

HOWEVER, her jeans are a size 9, she is not what I would even consider chubby, as she is very active and has muscle, and her breasts are a 36DD so you know where that ten pounds is coming from. The body fat limit is 30% and I highly doubt she is over that considering she wears a 9 on the bottom and has a 36 bra.

Will they waive her ten lbs. over, or will she have to be 137 by the time she LEAVES basic training?

What are bulletproof vests made of? Does every single US soldier in Iraq wear one? And I read this article about how a bullet "went through" the bulletproof vest of a soldier in Iraq. How could he get shot if he was wearing a bulletproof vest? Are bulletproof vests really bulletproof then? Thanks if you can answer any of these questions!

I am interested in joining the Air Force, but I'm not sure how long it would be before I would leave. I'm sure this answer differs, but I was wondering how long it would take in general.

I was recently given an uncharacterized discharge from the U.S. Air Force. It was an entry-level separation because I was only in the second week of basic training. I went to my T.I. and told him that I wanted to kill myself and gave him a detailed plan of how I would carry it out. They then took me by ambulance to Wilford Hall Medical Center and I spent the night at 4D, which is basically the Physch ward. I spoke with a Physciatrist there a told here that I didn't know if I would try to harm myself again if I went back to training. I admitted that I did try to kill myself in training. I went the last stall in the latrine and took off my belt and pulled it tightly around my neck until I nearly passed out. They examined my neck at the hospital and could clearly see a huge red mark, but not any damage. My Seperation Code is JFX and my re-enlistment code is 2C. I'm trying to find out if I can still enlist in the army in about 5 years if I get my 4 year degree and see a physciatri

Should women in the military be given induction cuts just like the men upon being inducted into the armed forces? Should women in the armed forces also be forced to keep their hair as short as the men after basic training? Personally, I believe that this is an excellent idea and should be instituted as soon as possible by our government. First of all, women on average spend more time on their hair, washing it and putting it up for service - something that is a much less of a problem with women who actually cut their hair prior to service. Second, women and men have their differences, yet hair is an unimportant dead structure that often gets in the way - plus women and men should be treated the same way in this respect, no nonesense, no double standards, no reverse discrimination. Third, long hair in the battlefield is dangerous if an enemy should get a hold of it. Four, long hair should not be acceptable in a professional eviron like the military.

These are too very elite groups, and do some of the most dangerous work out there.
But they do differnt types of missions?
Like what?
I thought they did the some of the same types of missions. Like direct action, gurrilla warfare, unconventional warfare, and reconnaissance.
Can someone explain.
thx

who have no clue and keep desolately trying to find excuses to impeach the president, desperately trying to find an excuse to invent something to attack him with ? if they used all this energy on defeating the terrorists, would it not be a safer place ? does it sometimes get you asking yourself "why am I serving, so people can be so twisted" or do you think its good that people can so misuse their rights to free speech and blow it so badly ?

Her Daddy, George, really thinks nothing of sending our sons and daughters to be killed. Not his kids though.
If the Bush's really believed in the 'protect our land' act, wouldn't both daughters be active in the armed forces? Or at the very least not be seen out partying and pushing their successes.

With the new information out that President Bush knew Iran's nuclear weopens program was dismantled years ago, and he was warned as early as last year, should he be impeached? During all that time, he kept saying Iran was building nuclear weopens but his own intelligence service, said they weren't. This was the same situation with the war in Iraq. If an officer fails to heed sound advice from his own intelligence service, we would call that direlection of duty.
