a friend of mine served in the navy many years ago it was the australian navy but this might apply to others,he told me if someone was discharged and they were glad to see the **** end of you that the corner of your discharge paper was cut off so anyone in the future would know.he served on the carrier Sydney to let you know how long ago it was.has anyone else heard of this?

Sounds like an Aussie Navy tradition only. I never saw it done in the U.S. Navy. But, that's O.K. I still haven't found out why Australians call a red-haired guy "Bluey".
